I've already finished the game so it's not urgent, but I was wondering if anyone else has run into lip sync issues and if there were any leads on how to "fix" it.

It seems like the sync to each line is randomly either a second too late, or too early. The animations match up to the spoken words as well as the game manages (if, for example, I watch with volume down.) Haven't really noticed any sync problems with other sounds.

Using an oldish Sound Blaster Audigy SE card on Win7 x64. Yes, it's nothing special but it has worked without issues like this in any other game, or in the prior ME games.

Relevant drivers are up to date, even tried reinstalling. Works fine on with on onboard Realtek card.

EDIT: Statement about Realtek working was probably hasty. At any rate, I bought an Asus Xonar and it appears to have improved things a tiny bit. Still randomly off at times though.

Hi there,

This has been a major problem for me too and has actually stopped me playing the game (might be cos im a video editor so lose the immersion when things are out of sync). I was eagerly hoping that this latest patch would sort out the lip sync issue (which as you say, audio is about 0.5 - 0.8 seconds out of sync with the lip animations for me), but to no avail. It is still out of sync after the latest patch.
And then you mentioned Audigy sound cards, and it got me thinking that maybe that's what it is. Maybe its something specific to Audigy cards (and/or drivers). I have however find nothing relating to this in my research.
I sometimes wonder if everyone sees/hears it, because for me it's highly annoying. Do people not using Audigy cards still experience lip sync issues ?

I have a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card. The last driver is dated 2009 ! Did a search on Creative's site for latest drivers, downloaded and installed it, seems to be dated the same and had no effect.
Problem persists.

Any news from Bioware on whether the lip sync is a recognised issue and being corrected ? Be nice to know if it's being looked at.
Worries me that Ochrejelly thought the lip sync was fine on his lap top using a Realtek sound card. Makes me think maybe it's fine for some people.

I'm a video editor too so i really notice it.

On my first 2 playthroughs i never had the problem. Since reformatting my computer and installing ME3 again, i first noticed it. I'm up to a point where its so annoying, i just cant deal with it anymore. So i'm not playing the game again until there is a fix. I'm thinking maybe a recent ME3 update caused it for me.

I have an integrated realtek sound card,i've tried 2 different drivers for it and even the default Windows ones, no fix.

Its really annoying and im surprised nothing is being done about it.

Thanks for replying Shockwave. Atleast now I know it's not just my soundcard. Strange that you reckon it was fine for you pre-reformatting. Did you update/upgrade windows ?
I downloaded and played the game on another PC the day it was released (before any patches) and it was out of sync then, so it's unlikely a patch caused it.

No upgrade, just the same as i had before. I downloaded it onto my laptop and it seems to work fine without any audio problem and you can count on bioware to not fix it, all they care about is Multiplayer because thats where they get their money.

A relatively major issue for an interactive cinematic experience. Such a shame.

Sorry, didn't realize anyone replied to this topic, actually.

I think I might have been mistaken with the statement about the Realtek having less issues because it was just a short dialogue test.

The problem seems to be random. During my 2nd playthrough, sometimes the sync was spot on in places where it was not during my 1st. Most of the time, however, it seemed delayed or early. And on top of that it seemed to get worse as the game progressed.

For some weird reason, 99% of Salarian lip-sync seemed to not suffer from this issue (noticed in 2nd playthrough.)
