Ok I stumbled upon a situation where I was unable to use tomes.

I decided not to use them before I get every team member and then use tomes to balance char builds. At that moment I already had several Arcane tomes and Phisical tomes.

When I started to use Phisical tomes it was giving me strange sound effect and nothing happen (I used it on the warrior)

Apperently you can't use it if you have Arcane tomes in the inventory. What you should do is: move Arcane tomes to the junk. Remove one Phisical tome (WK or sell/buy-back) and use the one left. Works fine for me.

The best rule of thumbs is if you have more than one kind of tome in your inventory to move all you don't intend to use to the junk section and then move them back after you're done and so on.
