I suspect the ending we got is the ending BioWare intended. They no doubt originally meant it to have the promised multiple endings but there would be so many variables that it would be very hard to maintain continuity with the next Mass Effect game, easiest solution would be to kill almost everyone off, create a new galactic dark age and reset the universe. This must have been decided very late in the process so the last 10 minutes were rushed, poorly written and executed and destroyed the trilogy. There is nothing we could say or do that could make BioWare change their minds now.

Of course this is all ill-informed speculation, Mr Hudson may dazzle us yet. My optimism has not been entirely extinguished.

Maybe he'll say what he said in this:

http://www.theglobea...content=2379957

Here's the following excerpt that I found curious:

"
You have to have a thick skin, for sure, and recognize that, to some degree, a game is a little bit different than a lot of media because the players feel like they own it. They co-own everything that happens in the world. And there are some things that just creatively – whereas, if it’s a book or a movie, you want to go a certain direction with it – players may have wanted to see something different. … It does bother me when people get personal. … I think it’s easy for people sometimes to lose sight of the fact that we do this because we love the medium, we love storytelling and we love to create a magical experience for players. We do it out of love, so hopefully they can have fun with what we’re doing. And if they have criticism, level it in a constructive way because we listen to it. "

"So we trolled you somewhat - our whole goal was to create a deeper form of interactive fiction and indoctrinate the player.

As such - please enter the following code on your system and you will receive your real endings. Thank you for participating in the greatest game / customer / art experiment of all time."

Until I hear otherwise - I'm hopeful. Regardless - its like Easter a day later - then my birthday two days later. So I'll be on a chocolate and present high for a while to forget about it if its not.

Isn't this what he was implying when he was marketing the game itself? That we co-develop the story, the game, the experience?

This Hurts Me.

if the indoc theory is true, and i still think it is, then they'd probably have a trailer for it, and start off with that. at least that's how i'd do it. nothing calms angry nerds down like a good mass effect trailer.

If not, will that be enough for the indoctrination theory to finally be shelved?  Or will it keep on keepin' on even after ending dlc has been released and there is no mention of it on Bioware's part whatsoever?

Just curious.

First thing he'll address are the venues security arrangements and potential escape routes.

Just in case.

I'd hope that if they ignored fan criticism about the ending or acted very snotty everyone would simply walk away.

Honestly? The ending has so many discrepencies, flaws, lore breaks, logic breaks and plot holes - I don't think Indoctrination Theory wil ever die.

To be honest - everytime they have a public event - it seems the only thing most fans in attendance are able to do is raise their hand and ask something about romances and fawn all over the developers.

Everyone at Bioware will say their names backwards and disappear into the 5th dimension.

I wonder when/if he will notice how much of a joke he is becoming.
No matter what he says, I have my doubts anyone would take him seriously.
And with good reason.
He has to adress the ending controversy. If he does not...oh gods, the backlash will dwarf this by magnitudes.

He'll start off with the usual self-congratulatory words about how it's a "Critically acclaimed" game and point to the "professional" reviews, then segue into how he and the team are very proud of their work, then go into multiplayer statistics as "support" for how good Mass Effect 3 has done. He will attempt at all costs to avoid talking about the disaster of an ending that he implemented.

Yup... sounds about right

Casey: Now, are there any questions?

Concerned Fan 1: Yeah, will you be changing the ending any time soon?

Casey: *gives a "you're gonna have to wait and see" answer* Anyone else? You, in the front row.

Concerned Fan 2: Yeah, only a few months back, you stated that the endings would be wildly divergent and that we wouldn't receive A, B, or C endings, yet the current endings are contrary to all of that. How do you explain that?

The truth is, if Hudson even decides to show up, there's no way he's even touching Q&A's with a ten-foot pole.

Casey wont go near any Q&A and if he does, prescreened with a small crowd (for sure not a large convention room where the "minority" might get vocal). Buzz words like critics, +90 score, 3 million sales, epic and reception will the thrown into the public like it were **** covered cookies.

What will happen is someone like Jessica Merizan taking the first punch, if the mostly male crowd even dares to attack her. After which white knights amongst us will come to her aid to silence the critics. Hard questions will be avoided and Bioware survives to live another day.

....I'm really turning into a cynical bastard, am I? Now where's that Thread Lock I'm expecting?

I'm kind of scared for BioWare at PAX. I feel like I'm going to read, "Nerd Rage turns to fire as convention center burns down," or something.

Here's to hoping that people who get to ask questions keep it civil and informative and there isn't a bunch of, "Fix the endings!"

I guess it depends on how much control he has. If it is a highly controlled event, he will talk only about the DLC they have been cooking up since release day.

If he is pressed on the issues that actually matter, he has no choice. At this point, no body cares about omega dlc. What are you going to do about the endings? give an answer, one way or another. stop this shadow games bs and give an answer.
