If they fix the ME3 ending I would love to see the series remastered one day to ME3 gameplay.

Quoted for your mind-reading skills. But sadly I think the fact that EA don't own the rights to ME1 might be a stumbling block. It would be fantastc, though.

ME1 is the best in the series in general. I love it.
ME2 have great combat and cool Normandy but lacks the rest of ME1 greatness.
ME3... don't mention this shameful failure.

I doubt anyone on here or at least very few would say they hate the game. ME1 was brand new and had a lot to discover story wise. It has a much deeper story than ME2 had but what it lacks ME2 built on. Like most people my problems with ME1 are the clunky combat which makes it hard to get through on more difficult levels. The cover system in this game is a nightmare you just get stuck to walls if you run into them and of course the inventory drove me crazy like many others. The long driving sections were dull and repetitive. I'd say mini games were annoying too although you could get out of them with omni gel where as in ME2 you had to play them to get stuff.

But yeah it's a flawed game but still has it's good points and i think most would say that for all the games in the series or any game in general. No game is perfect but every Mass Effect game is a million miles away from being a bad game.

I suppose if you played ME2 first I could understand why you think that, but when it first came out I loved it, even the combat. Even though I like ME2 more now, there is an intimacy about ME1 that the other games don't have.

I played ME2 first, significant amount of time I mean (since I can't handle gamepads for long). Still love ME1 more. Yes, cover system is a bit off, but for my taste it is off in whole franchise (GTA IV done it better for my taste). But I think ME1 cover and combat system slightly reminds me OFP/ArmA approach (and that's compliment) - maybe not as fast and dynamic as some "vertebrae action", yet quite realistic - no teleport to cover from standing, no stupid animations and "circus rolls" (caught a real laugh-jam on Mars, in room with turret controls, sniped few cerberus' troops through glass and watched how others react and behave; starting to understand Mordin's wish to run tests on seashelss). My biggest complain on ME1 cover system is strange ****ing autoaim I even couldn't turn off completely. Very funny when you try to kill krogan. Especially if there is more than one krogan.

I actually started a brand new playthrough in ME1 this week, and I intend to take it through all three games. The game might be a bit dated, but I had actually forgotten how much fun it is. I love that game.

Aside from some inventory issues (too many useless items if too great quantities forcing too much inventory mgmt time), ME1 was a great game, in many ways I prefer its combat mechanics to ME2/3's.

For its time, ME1 was great. Why bioware did away with the Mako I will never understand!!!!

ME1 was cool, the only issue I had with it was the freak annoying MAKO exploration on the same retextured planet all the time. Also after getting used of ME2 I am also grown a bit annoyed by the bad combat mechanics but the good story of ME1 makes the whole game worth it. plus it has a bigger and better citadel hub :)

Hate is a very strong word, so probablynyes, you are the onlymone :-)

I played ME2 first as well, and though I really dislike the combat style, inventory and the extensive makondriving, I still love the story. I still play the whole series regurlarly, but me1 is always played on easy mode because that is played purely for the amazing story.

I don't think it was Mako so much as it was exploring the nothingness planets. Still loads better than ME3, which had no exploring.

Most people on here will say ME1 was the best simply because it was more of an "RPG" but I dont really critique a game based on its genre. All ME's are equal to me for various reasons and are my favorite games of all time. ME3 had awesome character interaction and not just between shepard but between everyone on my ship and it really made it feel like I had a squad who were loyal not just to me but to each-other as well.

I didn't hate ME1, but after I played ME2, I couldn't imagine playing it again. The small problems I was willing to overlook for the sake of a truly fantastic story just became too glaring. They did take the streamlining a little too far, but it's a much smoother gameplay experience. ME3 for the most part did a really good job of balancing the strengths of the two games and, minus the awful ending, is my favorite of the three.

Me1 is the best, Story wise and gameplay wise. I didnt have a problem with the cover system and i loved playing it on insanity. I wish the Shepards in the other games took as much damage as the shepard in the 1st game did and back off the MAKO, I loved that tank jeep thing lol

Wow, the gameplay was just terrible. TERRIBLE. Especially the cooldown ammo mechanic and those horrible crosshairs. Its only saving grace was the story and awesome dialogue. But other than that, I hated it. It was a chore to play.

That is true, but the story was damned good and had a real ending.

The gameplay doesnt really matter that much anyways; if I want RPG I play DAO, if I want a shooter I play Crysis 2 or Halo(best FPSes I ever played, by the way, much recommended). ME2's and 3's gameplay is better than 1 but still not good enough to play it for anything but the story.

The common gamer is impatient and detests strategy so I can see why the weapon cooldown would be unwelcome. The wait isn't so bad as long you don't overheat.

Any question that begins with "Am I the only one" doesn't deserve an answer.
