Terrible experience if you don't have save file

BUT NOPE, I've not met thane in his cutscene, not jack, no legion in geth ship, no grunt! I feel like I'm getting a second rate experience here and there is nothing I can do about it... All my friends have been telling me about the occurences of the old characters, and all i could say was? What? That didn't happen to me.
What the hell EA? Why couldn't you just give us the option to make our own save file at the start of ME3?

I don't have a fix for this, but there is an alternative. Go to http://www.masseffect2saves.com/ and check through the files if someone made a save that you like.
There is an import walkthrough on the site and it works even if you don't have ME1 or ME2 installed on your computer.
Hope this helps :-)

The per-generated save file is horrible. (Or at least it was in ME2 :-) )

Would have been useful thanks, I don't really feel like starting again now though.. just out of curiosity though, do I pick and ME1 save I like the look of, and a ME save I like? If so how do I avoid contridiction between the saves? For example one might have somone die and the other one might not.

I think that you can only pick an ME2 save for ME3. Most of the uploaders are kind enough to tell you the major plot decicions they made in ME1 (Wrex, Council, Anderson or Udina and VS survivor) and usually have a rather detailed ME2 description.
So there will be no contradictions between saves since you only use one
And well, you can keep this information behind your ear if you ever wish to replay ME3

You do realize your complaining about the game MAIN FEATURE right? The whole point of ME1-2 is to make ME3 a custom experience. You should get less if you didn't import, just like DA2 if you don't import you get less, because they were made to work that way. You've played ME2 you should have know this was going to happen.
How would I know this was goign to happen? I had no idea that EA were going to turn the default save into a horribly generic experience.. Also how am I supposed to to use my ME1 save and ME2 save when old xbox's hard drive broke? I'm now on the PC.

You can effectively transfer your saves from the 360 to your PC. I used this method and it worked just fine. You'll likely need this as well...
