the digital Origin version of the game, does it need the latest patch or not?
is the Origin version patched to 1.02?

If you are uncertain what game version you already have, open the Mass Effect 2 Launcher, press Configure, and select the Game tab. The number given for the first file listed, MassEffect2.exe, is your patch level.
