One contradiction: it says something about Tali "seeking reestablishment of the Mass effect," and yet Liara is supposed helping with reconstruction on Thessia. How'd she get to Thessia if the relays haven't been reconstructed or a replacement hasn't been found? I know that Thessia's system was relatively close to the Sol system, at least in comparison to the Far Rim where Tali's probably trying to get, but I think we've gone over in great detail how getting to even the closest system with just FTL travel is near impossible.

Well, if they are real, then they just seem like design notes, so maybe inconsistencies haven't been cleared up yet. Hell, look at ME3, it's finished and there are plot holes.

This is very true.

And one more thing I gotta say, "Mass Shift" is a really dumb name for a game.

Of course, I seem to remember some interview where they mentioned the original dumb names for Mass Effect 1, so they've got two years to come up with a better one, apparently.

It's cheesy, but given the state the galaxy's in would constitute a massive shift in civilization. And, even as a working project title, the "to be released in 2014" fits EA's "new every two" philosophy...  If it is fake, it's rather elaborate...

God, it's sad. I know we already had the "Little boy is really Harbinger" fake-out, and the fact that this document really seems to be the exact sort of thing us devastated fanboys would latch onto and drool over, making it a perfect T-word we're not supposed to use on these forums.

But honestly, I'm wanting to believe this so badly. Mostly because it's either this or just sit around on these forums going, "So, ending still sucks? Yup, still sucks."

I'd say that this is elaborate and seems to fit in with the design choices and "Never post-game DLC" policy that Bioware wants to stick with, also seems to add more closure and fanservice, without doing anything to the ending.

And sadly it makes ME3 more like "lolz this be all cliffhangers for the storyline, so you have to wait another game for true closure and resolution"

This "Terminator" thing seems to be post-game DLC. If this is real, of course.

The one other thing that strikes me... is this going to be all text detailing these things? It's just about the only way it would be feasible, because if they seriously have a DLC planned for exactly a month from now, and all of this stuff is supposed to lead into it... there's no way that all of this content could be delivered otherwise.

Unless they've been working on it in secret all along.

Unless it's what they've been working on since the game went gold.  The part about finding parts to "repair" Shepard sounds like it would be a gameplay element.

This also brings to mind the tweets from Gamble (I think) that said something like "if the fans knew what was coming, there wouldn't be this reaction" on the endings... If  true (IF), these notes would indeed answer quite a bit of the critisisms leveled at the game. I find the "possible backlash" note interesting too.

Ugh. Straws. There are so many... :pinched:

I know.  I'm normally not the type to buy into this stuff, but it just sounds so damn interesting, that even if it isn't true, the guy who wrote this up should be working for BioWare, because his ending ideas are 100x better than what they came up with. :D

But yeah, in the end it's still back to waiting until PAX to see what's coming.  If they've got a DLC planned for 4/24, you know they have to announce it at PAX, so if we hear something like that, it'll lend this a lot more credence.

To me and for whatever ending players "chose", the bittersweet ending to Shepard would have been his/her ultimate death, but with at the very least, post-event emotive reaction by the other key protagonists of the series.

That I feel would then perfectly pave the way for the writers/developers to do whatever they wished with any future games and protagonists based in the same universe, based upon whatever "epilogue" offered closure to the core of the conflict theme in the Mass Effect series.

The main failure with ME3 is the lack of distinct or definitive closure, therefore to my mind, they've backed themselves into a narrative corner.

Krogan live as long as asari. Why would Liara herself be there, but the krogan broad is the distant granddaughter of wrex?

Sovereign makes it clear the reapers are not a hive mind. Plus, there is no way in hell they would name a reaper "murmur"

Oh. You mean 4chan. Why didn't you say so? The guy who (accurately) leaked LoTSB and Arrival posted there before too.

Because most of the people on these forums think that it's impossible for anything posted on 4chan to be true.

OH ITS JUST DEM 4CHANS TROLLING AGAIN

Maybe it is becuase 98% of the time it is. I always see 4chan as mos eisley, you will find no greater place find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. But ocasionaly, if your lucky, You can find someone good

Well, Wrex is established as fairly old by krogan standards, while Liara is a relatively young asari.  And even forgetting the lifespan thing, Wrex is still a krogan, and it sounds like there's a fairly tumultuous period of war after the Reapers are defeated.  Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up meeting his end in battle at some point.

As far as the other stuff, we already know that BioWare is perfectly capable of discarding old canon when it suits them (see: Relay explosions) so I wouldn't be surprised if that changes as well.  And assuming this is all real (and that's a really big assumption, I know), it's chatter between developers, and most likely isn't set in stone.

Man, I'm going to feel so stupid when it turns out this is all a fake.

I think the "CC4" section is the set-up for "Mass Shift". And it mentions Liara being a Matriarch in that group, so anywhere from 700-900 years has passed.

Bah! Ninja'd.

Murmur must be the Wheatley version of a Reaper.

"Aw yeah, heading to wipe out advanced civilizations. Wait... Guys! Guyssss! I forgot something in dark space! Be right back!"

[Later]

"Hey guys, I'm back! ... Guys? WHY ARE YOU ALL DEAD? I'M ALL ALONE, NOTHING BUT... A MURMUR."

LMAO!  Hilarious, and it makes the name makes sense too

Edit: And also, it would make sense that any Reapers outside of the Milky Way were unaffected by the.. red stuff coming out of the relays.

"Joker - Resigns from comic relief in aftermath of EDI."

I do like that line, though. I wonder if that's a formal process. "MEMO: Pilot Moreau no longer wishes to provide light-hearted counterpoint to grim and depressing realities of war. Will continue as Normandy pilot, but will transition to more serious character."

Considering the "NDA" at the bottom of the text, if it's real it's under non-discolsure, so they couldn't say if it was real or not.
