Bioware will announce their plans to "clarify" the ending. It will likely go something like this:

"We have decided, after much deliberation, to address the ending issue. As you may remember, there has been a vocal minority of gamers that have been complaining about "lack of closure". Now, we feel here at Bioware, that we cannot give in to pressure to change the ending of our game based on the outcry of a small group of our fans as that would set a dangerous precedent. So we have agreed upon a compromise.

Coming soon, there will be a new DLC named [insert name here] and it will cost the equivalent of $10.00 USD. It will tell the story of Commander Shepard going to [insert location name here], where Shepard will [arbitrary goal stated here]. This new DLC will include a new weapon and a new story that will tie into the ending of the game. Rest assured, various things will be explained, such as the so-called "plot holes". Joker's retreat will be addressed as well as the many other points brought up by our most vocal of fans.

Let me be clear... The ending is not going to be changed. It will stay as is. This is something that we've intended for a long time, and we cannot in good conscience, give in to this sort of pressure.

Thank you all, and enjoy the new addon!"

I expect nothing good from this. Bioware has been clear that they want to keep things as-is and in turn, keep their nonsense ending. Could I be surprised? Sure. But it is very unlikely that they will do anything but pay lip service to the RME movement.

I don't know what to expect out of the panel. I will go to both the Dragon Age panel and the Mass Effect panel. I will expect my fellow ReTakers to be civil and ask their questions(if Bioware even allows a Q and A session) in an educated and civil manner. I'm imagining either a DA3 announcement, or they'll talk about the canceled DLC for 2 a bit and then focus primarily on the Seeker movie.

For Mass Effect, they'll PR spin the whole event or they'll be honest. I'm hoping for 2. Becase Hope is all we've really got at this point.

"A-hem. Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed members of the press, and those looking for answers, I welcome you to this panel. My name is *insert representitive of Bioware here* and I will be answering ALL of your questions, no matter how big or small. However, before we start, I would Just like to say two things. First: we ****ed up. I know it is little comfort to those who believe we betrayed them, and I would just like to appologize to everyone, from our fans, to our critics, to the people who don't even like us anymore. From the bottom of my heart, we are well and truly sorry."

"I suppose you are wondering why we are appologizing now instead of when the **** hit the fan back when this was released. The answer is simple really: EA wouldn't let us. I know it seems easy to demonize someone else besides ourselves, but EA wanted us to release this game on time. 'too much riding on this' they said. 'you will release this game when we say so, or else' they said. We told them that because of the leak last summer, we would have to push it back until at least May, possibly June- hell, even July! They wouldn't listen. And then that's when we heard the words that we thought we would never have to hear from one of our publishers: Ending DLC. I looked over to Dr. Muzyka, and he looked like he was just forced to eat a diseased rat, he looked so sick. I was sure that he was going to get up and strangle that EA representative right then and there, and mail his corpse back to Redwood. I know he wanted to, I could see it in his eyes, he wanted to just say '**** it' and burn Bioware's contract with EA, but he couldn't. He left that meeting madder than I have ever seen a man before. But another thing I saw in his eyes was fear. Fear of the fans, fear of the backlash, fear that this could ruin us. We didn't want to do this, and for that, all of the personel at Bioware are profusely sorry."

"Now on to the second part, we have been listening to the fans, we have been hearing the complaints, we have been listening to the things that they liked in the game. And we want to let the fans know this: you are not alone. We WILL be releasing DLC that adresses the ending, that shows what happened afterwards, that WILL provide closure, and that WILL renew your faith in us. And here is something you are gonna like even more: Free. If you have a copy of the game already and an EA account, you will be given it for free. And if you don't, It will only cost you $2.00 and all of the proceeds will go to Childs Play, EA be damned."

"Now are there any more questions?...."

If they just announce a slide show epilogue or a half baked attempt to 'clarify' that the galaxy is screwed then it would be nice to see some sort of walkout.

Hopefully nothing that'll reflect badly on Bioware or the fans.

If there's even a single person there behaving like an absolute raving maniac about the endings, you know that'll be what's seized on by those already treating Retake and similar with major suspicion and derision.

So yeah, hopefully things will remain civil, points of view will be expressed properly and no-one goes in there expecting everything served up on a silver platter. A dialogue isn't the same thing as a diatribe.

Fingers crossed Bioware can come up with something solid to offer and not fall back on PR speak.

They'll announce multiplayer DLC, and if anyone asks about the ending, they'll probably side-step the question. "Give us time, we have 'clarity' on the way."

I've started to lose faith in Bioware. I don't want to, but I have :(
