Is it better to save or destroy the heretics?

I've been trying to work it out, but I keep getting to same answer.

Taking into account the Quarian Fleet and Geth Fleet (the only assets that are affected by this choice, and this is assuming peace)

Destroying to heretics:

250
250
250
150

= 900

Saving the heretics:

150
150
150
450

= 900

Am I missing something?

There isn't a better choice here in terms of war assets.  I kinda got the impression that the Rannoch missions have more enemies if you rewrite the heretics, but I could be wrong.

The council decision balances out as well, in terms of war assets.  I think Bioware wanted to avoid the right/wrong interpretation of choices.  Just different, not really better or worse.

The two choices work out to being equal. Destroying the heretics gives you an overall 150 bonus to the Quarian, but results in a penalty of 150 to the Geth, and vice versa.

No, it doesn't.  Factoring in the support you get from saving the salarian councilor, it would appear that saving the council gives you more war assets in the end.

saving or destroying affects how easy peace can be achieved, more than each factions war assets that are gained
