Yeah I really don't understand the hostility toward the requests to change Mass Effect 3's ending. Are they just scared because the movement is so passionate and so large and developed in a ridiculously short period of time and it's just some kind of knee-jerk reaction?
For some bizarre reason, some people think the endings are "deep"
When I myself think the endings are the result of a lazy writer trying hard to be deep and failing.

Don't forget that an ending change has literally been done in Fallout 3 already....though Fallout 3's endings didn't have half as many plot holes or disappointing aspects as ME3's endings do. Bethesda releasing ending-changing DLC AND a bunch of great new content reassured fans that their faith in Bethesda was well placed. Bioware must do this to restore the fan loyalty it once had, although it will take me a while to fully trust them again (if I ever). The difference is that Fallout 3's original ending was acceptable and Bethesda changed it ANYWAYS, while ME3's ending is a complete travesty and Bioware is having reservations on what to change...lame.
Best thing said ever.

OP, those guys were HACKS. Bioware are ARTISTS.
You just don't get the ending.
Sad thing is, I bet people would believe that.
i believe without a doubt some people already DO believe that...
I too hope they look to CDProjekt and how they did their EE's of both games. Fan respnses were taken into consideration, and they provided a ton of new content that made TW1 better, and no doubt TW2 even more awesome too.
And you don't see anyone getting snooty and up in arms about them chaingint their stuff around..

Rock we haven't won anything. All they've said is they will explain the ending/endings and provide closure. The fact is they promised us during their ad campaign 16 different endings that varied wildly based upon our decisions through the entire trilogy. They failed to provide that. Why would I or anyone else want an explanation/closure DLC when only some want that and many others want the original endings promised with the possibility of one happyish ending and various shades of grey to black for other endings? No I'm not going to shut up or take this as a victory because it's not until we see the so called DLC final product.
They'be signalled that they're gonna explain and clarify the endings. Again this is exactly what other people have done who haven't totally changed their bad endings, but added more content to them. Bethesda, for example, with Broken Steel. They didn't change their ending to Fallout 3. They added more content to it to help provide better closure. Exactly what BioWare has signalled they're going to do.
So again, you won. You pressured them and they caved. Congrats! But come on, if you really expect them to chuck out their original ending, script, record, program and video brand spankin' new endings, and give them out for free without charging a cent to it, to a bunch of people who probably will never buy another BioWare game or DLC again anyway, you're pushing it.
Like, are you telling me if BioWare adds a Broken-Steel like expansion to the ending that includes gameplay, a new levels, etc, you wouldn' expect to be charged for it? Truth is, nobody knows what BioWare is gonna come out with their DLC, except that they've already caved to your initial demands to do something about it.

It's not like Bioware even had the ending fleshed out in any meaningful way until very recently. You can see from the leaked script from back in November last year that the story has changed a lot since then. The prothean, presumably Javik, was originally meant to be the catalyst, but was cut because of time constraints. If Bioware had shown that the ending we got was what they had intended from the get go then the integrity argument may have held up better.

Well in that case some people might childishly see it as a personal attack on their intelligence when all the problems with the ending from multiple angles are laid out. I have thought that's happening at least in a few places.
I feel the same, it's a tryhard attempt to be deep from someone who clearly didn't know what they were doing. Symbolism and depth ought to be an organic process, it's not something you can try to force.

Fair enough, Heather Cline. Fair enough.
Others have. Others who've taken my poll, for example, others on these boards. But not you. This is true. My apologies.
Anyway, seriously, you should take the victory for now and wait until BioWare comes out with more information. If the info doesn't look good, then you can turn it on again. But right now you're wasting your energy when it's clear to me that you've won the initial battle.

Did I say anything to the effect that I'm part of a persecuted minority? Or say I was part of the majority? Or .. what? All I said was some people seem to react with a confusing amount of hostility to people pointing out what's wrong with the ending from a writing and plot standpoint.

No but you and others imply it every time you complain about attacks from the other side. Seriously, you guys outnumber the so-called "pro-enders" around here by such a large number... why should you care about their attacks? They should be like mosquito-bites to you. Or less. The pro-enders are the ones who are obviously in the minorty around here, and are attacked much more often by anti-enders simply by sheer volume.
And I don't know if you in particular have said you were part of the majority, but your movement obviously has on multiple occasions, so please let's not deny that. Or do you not believe your stance is in the majority of ME3 players?
