Talk with Geoff Keighley, Author of The Final Hours of Mass Effect 3

You did an excellent job 'humanizing' the BioWare employees, when many people see the companies that make their games as 'faceless entities'. That said, I would have liked to have seen more meat and potatoes on the game making process itself: more tech demo material, more on the iteration processes, more details on why this or that feature was added, removed, or altered. As is, it reads somewhat like 'The Casey Hudson Show". No offense to Mr. Hudson, but I'd rather see more interesting trivia on the game itself rather than pics of him watering his lawn in January.
Some of the info provided, as well as some of the concept art shown, has been seen elsewhere, and was not really new to the bigger BW fans, whom I would have to assume are the target audience for the app - the most interesting bits about the game dev were the ones that are thusfar exclusive to your app.
The gameplay statistics from ME2 were interesting (though some have again been seen before), more of that please! Some stats from ME3 would also be very interesting, if BioWare can provide some before you put out your update.
Again, thanks for the app, and thanks for making it available to non-iOS device owners! The price was right, and now I have some new music acts to look up.

Once again, stuff that, even if he knew the answer to, you are NOT going to get a response on. If everyone keeps this up, the thread is going to end up getting locked before Geoff can get a chance to respond to any of the legit questions. Hopefully the mods only delete the non-topic stuff instead of locking the whole thing.
Relax man. Why are you so upset by people's questions? If he can't answer them, he will ignore them. Simple enough.
I'm pretty sure I stated my reason in my last post. Geoff is taking the time to respond to questions about the story he did for the Final Hours App. If all he gets are questions about anything but that, how long do you think it will take before he deems the thread a lost cause and moves on?
Trying to keep people on topic is a bad thing?

Is Geoff coming here to fan the flames or something?
Because all his APP did was fan the flames of the BioWare community against ME3.
I doubt that this is his intention but you know how BSN can be sometimes...

While I fumble to find a question that isn't relating to the ending (as I'm sure they will be well covered by others), which game of the Mass Effect Trilogy did you enjoy the most, and why? The potential the first game showed, the characters and writing of the second, or the tight combat of the the third?

Not yet done perusing your story, but I'm really glad to hear that you hope to expand on it. Consistently impressed with your coverage of gaming in general.
Just a few questions:
1. Were there any high-level discussions of the Mass Effect franchise as a whole that particularly impressed you, such as sequel/prequel talk? That is, from your perspective, did you think BioWare was as concerned in developing the entire franchise as it was developing a specific game?
2. Is there anything non-confidential you had to cut from the app but would like to share with us here?
3. When are you and Reggie going to grapple wits again on GTTV?
Thanks for taking the time to talk to us!

Sorry for the silly question, but maybe someone can clarify for me. Is this app Bioware's response to the ending, as in does it answer people's questions, provide closure, etc.? Or is this more like behind the scenes look at Bioware working on the ending. And the explanation/closure part is coming later. Thanks!
The app was made long before the game was out, it dosent really answer anything, just created some awfull memes:wizard:

Regarding theories on the ending, I'm not really the person to answer those questions unfortunately. I can only comment on what I reported in the story.
You cant comment because you dont know or because youre not allowed to disclosure what you know?
That was within my quote box, re-read my post, LOL

OK, Mass Effect 3. Was your time with them before or after the script leak? If it was after, I'm wondering if you have any insights about Bioware's reaction and the changes made to the game as a result.

You are aware that this was covered and detailed along with video reactions to the script leak within the app right?

I haven't played your app (because i'm cheap) but I greatly appreciate the effort that went into it, knowing what goes into your leisure is important.
PS: Lots of Speculation From Everyone

Atm a lot have hated on it without really hearing or understanding our POV. Im asking for a new ending just like they are. Not only because of the major legitimate flaws I saw in it but also because I dont want to see Bioware destroy themselves bc of something like this. They're known for listening to their fans. I'd like to see them keep that title.

You got a peek behind the curtain that 99% of fans can only dream of. Did you get the feeling that as the deadline drew near, the team was rushed, and made the call to cut some things that may have dealt with some of the fan backlash that has erupted since release?
What was the most memorable moment of the experience?
If you could also touch on Bioware's creative process, I think that would be an interesting topic.
Thanks again, I look forward to hearing your replies!

Did they ever prove this was legit? Or are we just left to speculate.

I can confirm that this is Geoff Keighley and I am very pleased that he's taking some time out of his busy schedule to talk with us here on the BSN.
Everyone play nice and be respectful. Treat him as well as you'd treat me.
No wait. Treat him much better than that.
Thanks Geoff. Welcome to the BSN.

It appears he started this thread on his own time and will address the questions when he can. Let's step away from the keyboard, calm down, and wait for the man to bump the thread.

What did you think of Angry Joe's review of ME3, and his Top Ten list for the ending?
