Was there any mentioning of all of the plot holes/inconsistencies with the starchild's logic? Mainly how bringing peace between the geth and the quarians voids out the "created will always rebel against the created". This and other instances have been the cause of much of the uproar about the ending.
Thanks!

My question is this:
When you released the app, there was already an uproar with how the game ended. Were you concerned with how the app would affect how the fan would react to the information given in the app (ie: confirming the ending we have now is what they planned; there was another ending fitting the Indoctrination Theory, etc)? Or do you think the app would've only provide information, like behind the scene stuff and not feed into this craziness?
I'm asking because from my perspective, the die hard ME fans pretty much react negatively towards the information given in the app, and there were people that though Bioware was the one the released the app. Did you/the app get any negative feedbacks because of the ending situation?
Thank you so much for coming to forum and wanting to interact with the fans

I like how it is made, and content wise awesome. Wish I could see more.
Navigation is slightly difficult on the pc/mac version, but work great on the other platforms.

John385 - Thanks for reading. Yes, the plan is to write a new chapter that addresses the fan feedback and how BioWare is responding. It would be a free update. The Portal story was updated with a new chapter on the DLC for free.
I told you guys! Why does everyone have to assume it wouldn't be free. Stop hating on Bioware.
It looks to me like he's talking about his book not whatever BioWare will do.

Malanek999 -- I always planned to add a new chapter to the app after release, similar to the release of the Portal 2 App that was then updated to discuss the first DLC. The update will be free to those who bought the original app.
TheJediSaint - I took 5-6 trips up to BioWare earlier this year for the actual reporting on the story. Casey and I had our first in-depth meeting about the app at Comic-Con last year.
MrDext0R - I get what you are saying about resolutions for ALL your crew....But it's tough given all the characters in the world. People always complained about the "six" endings to Lord of the Rings as over indulgent, although I guess those were more "completist"? I personally would have liked to see more of Illusive Man in ME3 overall, but I'm not sure the "boss fight" would have really solved complaints about the ending.
CasbynessPC -- I guess it depends on how you define "full closure." I think there was full closure regarding SHEPARD's fate, but I agree fans didn't get full closure related to each and every character. (But then again what movie/book/TV show ever fully answers EVERY question?). I never got any sense that BioWare was unhappy with the ending.
Zuka999 - Personally I agree that there should have been more Illusive Man in ME3...I wanted to see more of him in the game. No argument there.
fafnir magnus - Where was it reported that the ending was written in a different way than the rest of the game? I didn't report that in my app.
Syrellaris - The application costs money because I had to invest a lot of my own money to produce it. This app was not cheap to create, it cost well north of $50,000 to make. So if I didn't charge for it, how would I be able to -- hopefully -- make back my production costs? Remember this App has to be programmed, we have to hire photographers, designers, and a lot of other things behind the scenes. So while I appreciate you saying that this information should be "freely available," the reality is that it costs money to package this information. Do you feel that $2.99 is really that expensive?
EnforcerWRX7 - How much did BioWare "hide" from me? I don't know! I didn't get the impression that they were hiding anything, I actually think they were pretty open and honest -- and much more honest than 99% of the game studios out there about their creative process.
pistolols -- I'm not sure what BioWare plans to do regarding the ending. I certainly hope they aren't going to completely change the ending, but I don't know anything more than you do about this.
sth128 - I haven't listened to Invisible Walls so can't comment. Sorry.
Adsinjapan - No, I found BioWare to be very open and honest with me. In fact they shared a lot of things that most game teams won't, such as internal emails and drawings/sketches. I never got a sense that the end had to be "rushed" through production.
Yalision - There was nothing "off the record" in my discussions with BioWare about the endings.
johnxtreeme - I'm not sure what Casey and the team will be doing next.
LGTX - It's a combination of things. I have to be interested in a game and have the time to write a story. And I need a game studio to be interested as well since these projects are very time intensive.
ChristopherShepard - Casey and the team were pretty busy finishing the game, I didn't see them working on any DLC during the Final Hours of the main game.
makenzieshepard - Yes that's correct, I plan to update the app. Sorry to hear you won't be buying the App because of the ending, but honestly there is a LOT in the app that you'll like if you were a fan of the first two games.
Mallissin -- Good question. On my first play through I had to play at BioWare so I didn't have a saved game nor was I connected to the Internet. So my ending just had the ship door start to open and no one came out.....
Mr Indivisible - I realize the notebook page's placement in the App may make it seem like Mac scratched down some thoughts last fall and then they rushed those ideas into production, but that's really not the case. I'm pretty sure that page was written much earlier in development as a brainstorm.
Jamie9 - I love the characters and the choices.
recentio - I'm following the fan reaction for sure, it will factor into the updated chapter.
Aesieru - That's a shame you think the app did nothing but incite the fan community. There is so much in the App that isn't specific to the ME3 ending, it's a shame all those pieces are being overlooked.
trickfred - All good feedback. My Final Hours stories focus very much on the people behind the game. While we discuss the creation process somewhat, I always want to draw the story back to the developers.
Chrishenanigans - Ha, I hope to have Reggie on GTTV again at E3!
showes13 - No the App is not Bioware's response to the ending. The app was produced and completed before the game was released.
jedsithor - Thanks for the Bonus Round feedback. We are playing with the format a bit, but will be back to the regular format at PAX East.
T-Bone101 - You can pay via credit card on PayPal. It will also be out on some digital download services soon for PC/Mac.
Yalision - I absolutely think that games companies have to keep their fans in mind. I'm not saying they should ignore feedback, but I also feel like game creators should be given the chance to express their own artistic and narrative vision for a game.
bucyrus5000 - I'm not sure why I keep getting asked this "skipping the peer review" process question. Was it reported somewhere? I'm not aware of anything skipping any process.
Mastone -- Just to clarify my Final Hours app update will be free, I have no idea what BioWare's plans are for the game.
Helen0rz - It wasn't great timing. It's tough because an App like this has to be completed a couple weeks before a game ships so it can go through production and approvals. (Apple takes about a week to approve an iOS app for instance).

I wonder how many people are reading the words "author of the Final Hours of Mass Effect 3" and interpreting it as "wrote the ending to Mass Effect 3."
Additionally, I wonder how many people interpreted "the plan is to write a new chapter that addresses the fan feedback... it would be a free update" as "we at Bioware are going to write a new chapter in Mass Effect 3 that adresses fan feedback. This DLC will be free to all players."

However, I can't help by NOT asking about the ending: How did they not see this coming? The reaction has been so widespread and genuine (not a single person I know IRL likes the ending, and I talked to dozens of them, not to mention the online feeding frenzy), that I almost have to ask how they let this slip out. (Unless it's Indoc, but, meh, that's another question entirely.)
At least, on the positive side, you have a really cool inside story here, as the tone shifts from "amazing game" to "amazing backlash at a terrible ending" into whatever comes next. I wish you the best of luck in the eye of the storm. Keep on documenting!

No matter what the team may have thought of the ending that they provided, it seems to me that it's more than a minority of fans who are deeply unsatisfied by the ending provided, and the utter lack of resolution for the story as a whole. Shepard's fate too, is not exactly described. It's open to plenty of speculation if one were to choose the Destroy ending, for example, and then there's the infamous Normandy scene. Not to mention whatever happens to the victory fleet, was there even anything left spaceworthy after the fight?
I say that the ending to ME 3 provides no resolution to major points of the story, which should not be accepted, especially when it is meant to be the end of a story arc. I feel that I have received zero emotional payoff for all the hours I've sunk into the ME series.
Of course, these are all just my opinions on the matter.
