I know everyone is talking about the "ending" but I myself seen other things that I had problems with.
(this is not a rant but me voicing a constructive response)

For Example:

1. Journal System. Anyone else agree that Bioware could give us back the Journal System of ME:2? I think a simple patch would do.... ME:3 journal system is worhtless. I say that not in disrespect but it's the truth. It doesn' help at all nor does it ever update. There's no drop area like in ME:1,2??? Why the Change Bioware?

2. Squad-Mates: I remember a lot of people wanted more intelligent squad mates after ME:1 and ME:2 I didn't see much difference. They were worhtless. Running in front of enemies and dying was so normal in ME:2 became sickening....I also would "command" them to go and they still wouldn't leave but stay behind the cargos. I find this SAME PROBLEM in ME:3 and can't seem to understand how by the third-game this is still around...am I the only one who noticed this problem?
  • . Harbinger, Wrex, Zaeed: I mention these three because I'm very upset on how they all have "little" screentime in ME:3. I would think Harbinger would be in the game a lot more since he's the leader of the Reapers, the oldest Reapers and even in ME:2 and the DLC Arrival he had a major role....and yet he's only in the game for like 10secs and doesn't even SPEAK to Shepard....
  • Wrex: What about Wrex? In both ME:1, 2 we would have the option of having a Krogan squad-mate. And yet in ME:3 we are not even given that priveledge....instead Liara is given the most screentime of all the others characters. I know some like Liara a lot...but, not everyone is a fan of Liara. Others (like me) perferred Wrex, Zaeed or even maybe a possiblity to have URDNOT WREAV (Wrex's Broodbrother) as a squadmate. I've find the krogan's to be great companions (especially on Insanity mode) when you need to have a strong squad....
  • Zaeed Massani: I hope I'm not alone on this. I feel Zaeed got screwed over in the game. I'm sure Robin Sach's (VA of Zaeed) felt the same way...
Zaeed was great. BW went out of there way to have him as a free DLC in ME:2. And in ME3 - he was totally stripped. I wonder if many even know he's actually in the game since you have to do an "obscure" side-quest on the citadel....he was a great character and squadmate. For the males who enjoy the Krogan's and Mercs as having them in there team...Zaeed was perfect
3. Game Felt "Rushed": I noticed this right away and was wondering if anyone else noticed this too? I don't see much character development. Nor do I see the "returning" minor characters have really much to say nor even offer. Like mentioned above, Zaeed, Wrex, Harbinger etc... they have very little to offer in the game. I feel all this could have been avoided if the game had a longer time to developed.

It's interesting to note ME:1 was released in 2007. ME2 was really 3yrs later in 2010...and ME:3 early of 2012...wow

I would like to see more mini-games. Missing a vehicle based mission like "Overlord" or some small riddles throughout the game.

YES 100%

I noticed just how little "elaboration" of the script writing on character conversations.

The only good dialogue's are Wrex/Wreav, Grunt/ Garrus and Admiral Hackett.

the rest are boring...a lot of "spacebar hitting"

suprise the made a whole DLC of using the hammerhead and yet it didn't return. I thought BW was going to bring it back?

Anybody else noticed how "Matariach Aethyta" face is completely different then in ME:2???

even her character seems different...one in ME:2 was much better and nicer then what they did in ME:3...seemed like BW didn't feel to give her much time on development...

Harbinger and his complete absence from ME3 (If it didn't talk I'm not counting it as anything)

Really other than the lack of Harbinger and the bad Ending this was a solid game. Kai Leng was ridiculous but not gamebreaking.

Mainly the Journal. The map is improved, but it's not perfect, nor does it help with the planet scanning fetch quests. A journal with more detailed intructions is still needed.

The journal and Kai Leng.

Kai Leng is a pathetic Sue who breaks fundamental laws of the game and then still resorts to cutscene magic when you beat him, all while being unbearably arrogant about it. I really wish you could hit the renegade interrupt for him again and again, just for a chance to enumerate each and every little reason he sucks no matter how much someone wants us to believe he's cool.

But I can accept him. He makes logical sense, even if it's brain-dead troll logic. Maybe they did just want to tick me off, in which case mission darn well accomplished. What I can't accept is what I can't talk about here.

1. I would like to see more and more dialogues with squad mates.. There is only "few" dialogues in comparison with Mass Effect 2. That's kind of dissapointment.

2. Also, kind of loyalty system, which was in Mass Effect 2 was step in right direction. Why was it suddendly removed? It would give some more playing time.

3. And also, I would like to see bigger impact of assembled war assets in final battle.. The whole game is player assembling fleets, ships, resources, and elite soldiers / mercenaries / scientists, searching every relays, every star for addition war assets.. And seems like it has no practical impact at the final battle after all. Yeah, reapers wouldn't be still possible to defeat in convetional means, but hell, in initial fire salve, there has to be at least few dozens reapers teared apart - it's not possible to just "cripple" one reaper ship (which is still able to destroy dreadnough like nothing). You need 5000 EMS for the best ending - so far it is possible to get something about 7200+/- EMS. I think then this really deserves something "extra".

4. I would like to see bigger impact of decisions maded in previous games. There was only a few to see - that's really not enough.

Squad AI: I feel I do 95% of the damage to enemies while my squadmates are hiding somewhere barely ever shooting.
Journal: It just feels unfinished
Those are my rather small nitpics. More dialogue etc. is such a huge overhaul I just count them as minuses nothing can be done for.

I would guess all the cut or otherwise not present stuff: Zaeed, Parasini, vehicles will be present in DLC. It just makes sense to hold back some of the important assets for DLC purposes

@op
ME1 was released second half of 2007, ME2 january 2010
For ME3 they kept most of ME2 concept and the new version of the engine was used for ME2 on PS3, with the experience of the team, a lil more than 2 years is fair.

I would change the journal too.
Exept that, what bother me in ME3 is the lack of green and vegetation on the outside place, they are all blocky rock.
As a whole, minus the ending, the game did match my expectation, or gave me more at some pointe than what i would have needed.
