No, the lack of a quality ending(s) bothers me.

Hold the line.

Both and also the plotholes and lore contradictions.

Closure.

You know Shepard was going to die because every friend you talk to says their final goodbye to you. They might as well line up all your friends up and chant "deadman walking"

Mostly closure. Though diversity of endings, the filling of plot-holes and the removal of the Starchild would not go amiss either.

Lack of closure. I fully expected Shepard to die. The death of Mordin...my absolute favorite character...was the high point of the entire franchise. He went out as a bigger hero than Shepard did, in my book. That may be a problem in and of itself, but my point is that I LIKE tragic and bittersweet endings.

But stupid God Kid and Gilligan's Planet aside, it is simply unforgiveable thatI don't know the fate of GARRUS, of all people. Alive? Dead? Who the heck knows? He was last seen getting lasered to death...but so was Ashley, and she made it to Gillian's Planet, so who the heck knows?

Closure. Plenty of games and movies have had "bad" endings and I've been quite happy with them. Also the plot holes added during the final scenes are a bother, so I suppose that's part of wanting closure.

Though considering how Mass Effect plays out, a "good" ending should exist. But I don't mind either way.

BOTH! I want multiple endings like I was given in ME1 and 2. That includes a "good" ending.

Closure, honestly I'd have been satisfied if Shepard just died during the mad laser beam dash. Instead everything got real unusual and plot holes started appearing everywhere...

Both. By happy, I just wanted to come out alive with the Normandy and the squad.

So at least twice as many as ME3 then?

Besides 2 had a massive amount of variety with the fates of the squadmates, depending on how many die, including Shepard, if any at all. Vastly more variety than 3.

Still, the last cinematic was also only a palette swap.

Lack of closure. To much unanswered and open to speculation. The epilogue parts of DAO were great, so we know Bioware can do this, and have an awareness of why it matters.

Are you just talking about the Collector has blowing? Because that I'll grant you was just a change of explosion but after that, we actually got significant differences, and could talk to the squad and crew after, and completely fail or get a total victory,, and everything in between.

ME3 doesn't come close to that level of variation,

Closure, definitely. At least, for the advanced races of the galaxy. Personally, part of me was hoping that Shepard and the crew would slam the Normandy into Harbinger as a final act of defiance. Blaze of glory, and all that.

True, you have a valid point.
But what I'm saying is that we shouldn't really be surprised after ME2 variations in the ending. They were not really that huge anyhow.

And seriously, who cared if your squadmate died, in the sequel, you'd only get a palette swap character that only give slight changes and forbade you from getting "top-score" in missions if squadmate died.

But yea, me wants closure

Both really. Obviously the current ending does neither.

Adding an epiloge to the current ending would just make it poor rather than among the worst ever, but I think people would mostly just be dissaponted.

Similarly, Deus Ex Machinaing a happy ending, while poor writing, is at least a bit satisfying to the player; you got to the right place, even if the journey made no sense at the end. Deus Ex Machinaing a bad ending pretty feels like the writers just messing with you.

It's never been established that there can't be a happy ending, so the possiblity should exists(it would be tough, but that's what makes it satisfying). It's really to late to turn it into a tragedy, you need to build that up through the entire game(really, the entire franchise, but the game at minimum).

Both would make a good ending, one of the 2 would make it low-Ok.  Closure would have a slight priority, but it's pretty close.

All the pop culture stuff I've read, watched or played over the past 2 years has been super negative or at best, bitter sweet. I don't know why that is the way it is right now, but it's a sign of the times. Being a person living right now, the bittersweet ending rings true to me tonally. (Forgive the bad pun) We know DLC is coming up and we've heard from high up BW folks that they're listening. So count me in for more closure if they decide to do it, but having it left open to discuss whether it was real or a hallucination or whatever is kind of..... fun.
