Does the lack of a happy ending bother you, or the lack of closure?

Lack of closure and lack of explanation.

I don't mind a bleak/bittersweet ending. In fact, I think this is one of the few stories I've experienced that would work better with a bittersweet ending than with a traditional happy ending. But thats just my opinion, and if others want a happier ending I wouldn't begrudge them that.

Well both but I can live without happy end. Closure and forced choices from the super kid is what bothers me the most

Closure.

I've only played Deus Ex: Human Revolution through once because I felt that it gave such poor closure on huge chunks of the plot and on the player character's relationship with other characters. Have no desire to play it again.

I am the same with ME3 (if not worse)

Yet you didn't see people demanding a new ending for that game - I wonder why? Deus Ex: Human Revolution had a terrible ending, but I guess the game's focus on why events occurred over their actual occurrence took the sting out the ending a little.

I'll take pretty much either one so long as it's not what I already got. I don't mind just getting more closure, at least in principle, because a lot of it depends on what you consider to be "closure". I'll really have to wait and hear their announcement to find out if it's something I'm happy with.

I'd *prefer* a happier end because they satisfy me more. I like to see my hero enjoying the fruits of his labors even if it's on a burning husk of a planet. But I'd prefer a lot of things. Like a million dollars.

I'm happy with happy, sad, or dark so long as the end is a satisfying conclusion. I don't feel the current ending is.

How about neither? At the moment I just want an ending that makes goddamn sense.

Pretty much.

Both, but mostly the lack of closure and the lack of choices and consecuences of the things you did in the past games and in ME3 too (giving freewill to the geth seems cruel knowing that you're going to kill them in the process of cleaning the galaxy from the treat of the reapers forever)...

I wouldn't have mind that my Shepard dying for trying to do the less damage to the rest of the civilizations in the process of destroying the reapers, but no, everything you do...screws them anyways, that's what I hate...
And I would have liked to have at least one option (even if it were hard to get) to see my character live with her LI and friends together at the end of the game..

I had so many expectations about this game...and all my feelings, time invested and money spend, was wasted on that...that bad writing.

For me it's the lack of closure, logic, and choices. Bittersweet is fine with me.

I really hoped for a Fallout-like paragraph based ending that would reflect the choices I made throughout the entire series. That would increase the entire's trilogy re-play value by a lot. We were promised a highly variable ending, yet nothing is really variable in the end. To add insult to injury, the way War Assets influence the ending is downright insulting to the player. I don't feel like replaying the game anytime soon. And even if I were to, I wouldn't bother doing all the scanning and all those side-quests.

I was really commited to the story and the game was a thrill up to the last moments of retaking the Earth. I just can't believe they really expected this ending to cut for a game with such hype around it. I don't care for a happy ending. I care for an ending. For me Mass Effect has no ending.

Would like happy ending as an option (really don't understand the whole issue with happy endings anyway...)
But really need more closure.

Both. There is absolutely no excuse for saying "the ending can't be X" when you work within a medium that allows for MULTIPLE endings. You can have your cake and eat it too.

An ending with closure would have been satisfying the first time I played it through.

A happy ending would have been satisfying for the second, third and fourth times I played it through. (Note that these are the times that I would have been buying DLC.)

At the moment, neither was accomplished.

A lot of things bothered me about it.

The fact that it's already been used as an ending for another videogame.
The fact that is was grossly misrepresented in PR releases.
Lack of closure doesn't bother me because there is plenty of closure...everyone dies. Everyone. Don't let the non-commital stuff fool you. The relays blow up and so everyoen dies. That kind of ending completely goes against the narrative style of a trilogy; that bothers me.
The fact that Bioware calls stealing another game's ending "Artistic vision" bothers me.
The fact that the choices themselves at the end aren't choices, go against Shepard's character and invalidates everything covered in all three games, bothers me.
The fact that it was clearly rushed bothers me.
The fact that they could have spent more time developing it if they hadn't added Diana Allers, a completely unnecessary addition to the game, added for the sole purpose of bring ing new players who haven't touched the franchise yet into the game bothers me.
The "Now that Shepard's saved the galaxy, buy more DLC" ad at the end bothers me...epecially since Shepard destroys the Galaxy in all possible endings.
Space magic bothers me.

The fact that Bioware isn't really going to step up and fix it bothers me,

The lack of choice bothered me with the ending and the fact that there is no closure. I mean why make any choices when nothing matters in the end...very depressing.

Another thing that burns me up is the LOTSB import bug for all of us Shepard/Liara lovers. I mean the last time we hooked up was 6 months ago and she always says 2 years...not to mention calling me her friend all the time. We talked about blue children...and why are we not sleeping in the same quarters!

Some people think that what they want, you should get. Really stupid logic, but hey..

Both was bothering me, when I first saw the ending I had 99% completion and 100% readiness, I thought that I've done something wrong.

It's horribly written and it's barely better than having the reapers harvest the entire galaxy. That's my problem with the ending. I'd be alright with no epilogue, I'm fine with Shepard dying, I'd be okay with the crew dying, but ****ing over an entire galaxy slightly less than something that wants to wipe the entire galaxy out, isn't really a win for me. It's more of "Hey, at least X horrible thing didn't happen."

both and beyond. bioware has given bad feedback and support in the following:
1) poor ending design
2) lack of war assets presence in final fight
3) Multiplayer bugs causing reset of unlocked items/kits
4) Multiplayer reset bug causing loss of cash-purchased items
5) Resets for credit glitch abusers
6) Poor treatment of ME2 continuity
