My main's first name is Matt, short for Matthew. His name comes from Matthew Shepard en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Shepard

Two of my female Sheps named  Athena and Diana. From obvious myhtological origins.

Rest of my male Sheps have names depend on how I feel on that creation day (Dash, Aiden, Marcus etc.).

I named my Shepard Adrian.

A nod to another Sci-Fi soldier for whom "Just doing my job," got taken farther than most would go.

^ Adrian. Pretty name.

I have a series of "stock" names i use for my rpg characters. My cannon shepard is Allexi. She was one of the first pen and pencil characters i ever created. My second shepard is Darwi- from the later dune novels.

Named all my femSheps after myself lol. This is the one video game series that I can do that because my actual last name is Shepherd (pronounced the same, spelled differently obviously). I even took the audio file of Garrus saying "It's me Shepard" from ME2 and made it into my text message alert.

That is awesome. Pity the only time I've -ever- heard my name in a videogame was on Thane's loyalty mission in ME2....  "Joram Talid", the Turian politician who hates humans. I HATE HUMANS

First name wouldn't fit so I used my middle. Pretty simple.

Used my first name for my male Shep, he's been that way since ME1. No other male characters yet. For my first femShep, I used Roxanne, a name I love for some reason. I used that name for my fem Amell in DA Origins as well.

That's really cool about your name working with Shepards. ^_^

Dragon Age: Origins was my first Bioware game.  I never played KOTOR or Neverwinter Nights, but the first time I heard someone talk about the character Safiya, I was very surprised.  It's my real name spelled exactly like that and I don't really see my name used within a popular culture context much.  It's a neat feeling.

Well, my 2 main Sheps are Walter and Trent. Walter is actually the English version of my name and I thought that it's an actual name but not a very common one. Trent then actually came from Edison Trent, the player character of Freelancer.

Mara, had to start with M and end in Al, I find it fitting for a pale dark haired biotic with dark green eyes. Sole survivor, spacer, leans Renegade.

Raoul Diaz, just needed to be hispanic and manly lol. He's pretty paragon though he'll do what it takes. War heroe, colonist.

Jack for Jack Bauer
Robert for Robert Goren (really proud of this one, my face was pretty damn close to Vincent D'onofrio)
John Wayne for obvious reasons (thought it would just be weird to put 'The Duke' Shepard lol...my first actual Shepard)

I just used the default Jane for the one femshep I did. Couldn't think of any girl names.

Her name is Yoshimi
she's a black belt in karate
working for the city
she has to discipline her body
'cause she knows that
it's demanding
to defeat those evil machines
Oh Yoshimi
They don't believe me,
but you won't let those robots eat me!

I've only got one so far; a femShep named Jordyn. I wanted a J name, and I just love that name.

Cameron Shepard came to be because I couldn't think of a first name and had just finished watching House. Hope, I don't really know I gave her the name knowing she was going to be my troll Shepard. Faith, well she's a paragon and has the belief that everything will work out. Can't bring her into ME3 as well, I can't destroy her faith that good will happen in the end. Like all of my FemSheps, she romanced Thane, I can't do that to Faith so she stays in ME2. Maleficent, Sleeping Beauty, the name itself means "evil-doer" and she lived up to it. Maleficent definitely is going to get her Disney ending, it is just not the kind of Disney ending one is accustomed to.

1) I love that song!
2) I name my Shepards after characters in books.

My brother has the same first name as the son of the human ambassador in ME3, Bilal Osoba. He was pretty upset too that the first time his name was used in a videogame it ended up being a dead character.

I met a Jane Shepherd once at a furniture store too, she was an employee there. It was kind of weird =P.

But yeah, my first Shep's name was Amira because I've always wanted to change my name to that, instead of the unpronouncable one mine is. The rest I just ended up naming after myself lol.

I can't use my own name in any videogame where it's an option. It just feels too weird. I'm not someone that can save the galaxy... that's silly. So, I just choose names that I like for my PCs. I only play Femshep so I picked Serra for my main. For a more traditional spelling, I lean towards Sara. Never liked that awkward "h" at the end. However, Serra seems a bit more futuristic, thus that got picked. Rachel and Kat for my other Femsheps. Kat's an Earthborn. Usually, I like Kate better, but I figured those gang members would be much more informal with names than a Spacer or Colonist.

For my femshep, I named her Colt, because she's brash and kinda wild. Also, I like masculine sounding names for my girls.

For my manshep, I named him Commander, because everyone calls him that and I might as well make use of it.

Since I figured that no one would call her by her real name, I just "named" her [redacted]. :)

I had to clear some space in my hard drive, so I only have three Shepards right now. There's Jason, named such because...well, it's a name I like. I usually use it when I feel like customizing a videogame character's name (which doesn't happen that often, actually) and can't think of anything creative. There's John, who is quite deliberately the default male Shepard in most respects (i.e., Earthborn/Sole Survivor/Soldier/Renegade). And then there's Jennifer, who I believe I named after Jennifer Hale.

I didn't actually intend to name all my Shepards with names that start with J. That's just kind of how it shook out. After I noticed the pattern and felt the urge to start a new Shepard to try out the Vanguard class in ME2, I named him Jared.
