There are several npc romance mods for BG1, BG2 and NWN2 available most of which have "flirt packs" installed, and I was wondering why Bioware has not used this option in Dragon's Age.

Now I realise that some of these flirt packs are poorly written and implemented, but there are some well written ones out there, which in my opinion, add to the experience of the romance. I believe that a well written flirt pack should offer different options and responses as the romance progresses, (e.g. Amber for BG2, Dynaheir for BG1), and therefore add more interactions to the game.

It just seems more natural to flirt with someone that you are romancing, rather than "buying" your way into their bed with gifts.

Depending on how well it is written... I totally agree about not buying love. Except any characters who are like that in personality.

Maybe an expansion pack could change it to two different types of affection gauges. One for romantic stuff... and the other... trust? Or something I can't find the words to describe. That might add too much extra content though... Yea... too much. Nevermind. But I'm leaving the idea in here anyway even if I withdraw it.

Zevrahn will murder and steal and have sex with a mark before murdering her but he draws the line at... cheating. because he doesn't want to be a ... cheat?! OMFG Are you kidding me I was soo mad at him because I wanted to keep him on the side, with his morals it should have been easy but nooo he suddenly had to grow a conscience.

I would like romance packs that open new dialogues maybe have the npc do a little pursuing

Not to mention Morrigan. Morrigan disapproves whenever you do one of the "kiss" quests, won't let you sleep with the duelist in the Pearl, and makes you dump Lelianna. All the while giving you speeches on how love is meaningless, and at the end of the game she'll leave you forever, a plan she's always had. I want the dialogue option that says "wait, a second, why the hell did you make me give up Lelianna if you've always just planned on having my child and hiding from me the rest of your life?"

And then Zevran and Lelianna seduced people for a living, killed their lovers either directly or indirectly when they were done with them, and all of the sudden they find relationships and sex the most sanctimonious thing possible? I mean, I'm not complaining because I can't have multiple sex partners. You can do that anyway through a glitch in the game. I'm complaining because there's no internal consistency to the romancables character personalities.

Unless you consider the following:

- Morrigan talks a lot about emotions and companionship not mattering; she's bull****ting you. Some of the NPC conversations actually suggest that she did feel a profound isolation. It seems she just doesn't know how to deal with emotional attachments.

- Leliana may have gone to the Chantry to survive, but somewhere in there she seems to have found some sort of desire to change.

Flirt packs would be awesome if someone decides to make a well written one :) I'd play through the game again with the same character if it meant we could have more flirting/romance options with our romantic interests.

I used them in both BG2 and NWN2 and really felt like they added to my immersion in the game.
