Basically, screw cooldowns.
Bring a Sniper, AR, Pistol, Shotgun and SMG.
I personally use the Black Widow, Falcon, Talon, Graal Spike Thrower, and the Locust.
I don't put any points into Adrenaline Rush, and get Defense Matrix as a bonus power for very tricky missions, otherwise it's Armour peircing ammo.
You're gonna wanna take 40% ammo power damage bonus as well, and invest in all ammo powers, as well as Frag Grenade, focusing on capacity and damage.
Anyone tried a true weapons soldier?

I thought about it. It's cool we can now carry Widow, Mattock, Claymore, Phalanx and Tempest (for ex.) all at the same time, a proper walking tank
Still, I went with cooldowns with my Soldier, used to stick with AR, Sniper and SMG as sidearm. I liked my Incinerating Concussive Shot and Carnage as bonus
If I bring myself to play again somehow, maybe I'll try the true weapons run

Yeah. I do this on my super-tank Sentinel.
Tech Armor + Defense matrix = 70% damage reduction. No need for powers, but you can still use Throw fairly often.

I do this, the soldier is not about powers and never will be, just use AR for a harder target.
Incendiary ammo for me, cryo for squadmates.
Never found a use for SMGs.
