Well where does this threat come from if I may ask?
Also it several scientific studies has pointed towards the fact that children who are exposed to a lot of violence become more violent themselves. And a society like USA that glorifies violence is more violent than a a society that does not. America has more violent crimes per capita than Sweden and a study also showed that american toddler where much more violent towards each other that swedish toddlers.
Correlation vs. Causation. There are scientific studies pointing out correlation of violent children playing violent games. Not violent games being the causation of children being more violent.
Thats like saying watching sports makes one play sports. We all know thats not true. People who like to watch sports, tend to watch sports. Its scientific!
Less pirates = more violent storms.... correlation. Sun, atmosphere, liquid, wind = more violent storms... causation. Science is picky like that.
The same goes for anything. Sex or violence in video games; all of it is just pandering to a certain demographic of the population that has a natural inclination to enjoy such things. No child is going to be a monster for picking up a violent video game.... but a monster will more likely pick up a violent video game. The same goes for the sexual aspect.
What matters is that the child is taught how to deal with their emotions long before any game is introduced.

I seem to have missed the graphic beheading, evisceration, and cannibalism, but I'm not done with the game yet.
My characters don't spend any time at all covered in gore because I thought it looked more like they got between Jackson ****** and a canvas, so I turned it off.

The romance (sex) feature in DAO is as about as tastefully done as can be.
I really don't agree. Wearing underwear while having sex is not tasteful, it's tacky.
Especially that kind of underwear.

Gee then I suppose the MS position is tacky/passe too?

Well put.
I play violent video games and like violent movies (but I can't stand torture-porn like Saw or Hostel) and I listen to Black and Death Metal, and have done since I was a teenager in the mid-90s...
...yet I have totally failed to become a hockey-mask wearing, chainsaw-weilding devil-worshiping psychopath.
Must try harder?

Well, if you turn off the gore, then I think you also turn off the finishing moves, and thus the graphic beheading and evisceration. The cannibalism is mostly implied. The Dark Roads have some disturbing moments in store for you.
First day they come, and catch everyone...

Robert Crumb, an artist from the 60s, said he used to masturbate to pictures of Bugs Bunny and Bugs Bunny still pops up in his sexual fantasies.
.....
My only concern is the mixing of the two: Sex AND violence.
Have good old steamy sex adventures as DLC and separate from Blood and Gore games.

I think the people who still think it's bad are the same people who still believe that Video games are for Children only. I don't think it's going to get any better for awhile, not until the generations that is our parents die out and a generation more comfortable with video games and see them beyond just children's toys start to take positions of power and influence in our communities/governments/media etc

Why is sex in games bad? An editorial over at Inc Gamers discusses this particular question. A very interesting read, written by a woman. It really amuses me how, in this day and age, news of a sex scene in a
game can make the headlines. It amazes me further that some people
still see fit to complain about sex in computer games at all.
Do you agree with the editor?
