Oh yeah, you don't get to do...that.

You have to wait as long as it takes you to walk down a flight of stairs. (Edit: and by you, I mean Hawke)

Sounds good.  It occurred to me that Anders and Merrill have exactly the opposite personalities as they did in DA1. Anders went from fun loving and funny to dead serious and grim. Merrill went from bossy to demure.

I have a bad memory but for me there is couple of long sections without a healer at that point of the game unless bethany is part of the Wardens instead of a circle mage.

I would argue with you that Anders is still funny up until Act 3 when as Varric points out, he's no fun anymore. And I would hardly call Merrill demure in DA2. She stands up to everyone. Even Fenris. Without getting snarky. And frankly, if someone spoke to me in real life the way Fenris speaks to Merrill in DA2, I'd be off crying somewhere.

Yeah, me too. He's getting a knife in the head from me.

Funny thing is that I always supported him and have him around 85% friendly. But once I found out what he did, I really want to go 100% rival. I just don't have enough time (not enough places to gain rivalry points left) to do it however.

Except when you refuse her the item in Mirror Mirror. She calls you a shem. OW!

Ouch!  That would hurt. Merrill is Hawke's gf.  Hearing that would be a kick in the you-know-what. ;)

Yep. She's called me that before. Definitely not demure.

I did.  Bethany, Varric, and Merrill were all at 100 friend (and love for Merrill).

I won the game just a little bit ago. There's one thing that I don't get: Why did Orsino self-destruct? What the heck did he turn on me for?

Congratulations on finishing the game. Yeah it doesn't make sense if your pro mage for him to turn on you. I don't know how they would have done it differently though.

Yeah that stung! I was on the friendship path and and I refused to give her the item and bam! I'm a shem and get 165 rivarly points. Then she kicks me out of her home and tells me she never wants to see me again :(

I think you always fight Meredith also, even if you side with the templars. They have both been driven crazy

The only way to duel the Arishok is to hit him and then run in circles. Hit him, run in circles. Hit him, run in circles. And hide behind the pillars. Also, bring a bootyload of health potions. I learned this the hard way. Especially because every time you die, you are forced to rewatch the entire cutscene over and over again. By the end I was reciting all the lines word for word. But, when you finally do beat him, oh how sweet it is. I think I almost cried.

Yeah I had to do this also. I tried to have my 18th level 2H hawke could go toe-to-toe on hard but nope. He keeps knowcking me down, almost unfair. I would swing and run. and run. and run. around the pillars. while waiting for my cooldowns. Once I figured out how to do the fight (run), it was not hard.... but just really tedious.... and long. when he drank his first heal pot, I almost screamed :)

Arishok fight is easy just sidestep and keep your HP up. If I can do it on Nightmare with any class, than you can do it on hard. SIDESTEP SIDESTEP KEEP HP UP, learn his combos and rotation and avoid impaling.

oh yeah, I beat him. When i meant that I couldn't go toe-to-toe, I meant that I wanted to stand there face to face and duke it out but I couldn't and had to run around. As you mentioned, it is not a hard fight, just really annoying and long.

The final boss should have been either Orsino or Meredith, not both. Then again, they both went off the deep end, so maybe they both needed to get it.

Meredith needed to die, since her death would completely destabalize everything, Orsino was unnecessary, but I understand Meredith.

I rivaled Merrill once, and I must say, I liked it much better than friending her, her rivalmance was great. I could never play in a way that didn't make me Varric's bro, mostly because Varric is so damn awesome.

The_Real_Lee, if you side with the templars, you still have to kill Meredith, and if you side with the mages, you still have to kill Orsino. That to me is an anti-climactic ending.  Aside from this, it had a great storyline.

I've finally decided to get DA2. I'll be importing my Dwarf Commoner (defended Redcliffe, mages, preserved ashes, Bhelen without anvil, ended werewolf curse, Alistair and Anora rule, Loghain spared, Morrigan's ritual, sided with Architect). Is there anything that I should know before my first DA2 playthrough?  Are there any experience and/or gold glitches?  Are there any common mistakes that I should know about?  Any bugs?  Thanks. :)

My advice: Stop playing. Throw copy out. Go do something else. It's a bad game and I wish someone told me that before I wasted my time.

My advice, ignore small minded people like this and continue playing a game that is well worth the value you paid for it.  Current patch has this game working well. And based on its own merits this game is a good play for $20 bucks for 40 hours of solid gameplay that carries replayability.

Take the game for what it is and not what people expected it to be and you will find the value it holds.  For what it is, this game is worth the buy and belongs in any collection, save the jaded, rage filled fanboi's.

Different strokes SuicidialBaby; I’m another who has no problem advising the OP not to bother with that wretched game. That said, enjoy it if you can!

awesome how you haters show up after the fact.  He's already finished the game and has stated that he's enjoyed it.  Amazing how both of you still troll a forum of a game you claim to no longer play or even own simply to tell people not to buy it.  It's simply amazing that you both have the where withall in your lives to frequent a forum for a game you don't enjoy.

Different strokes?  Yes, its the strokes that brings you to a forum of a game you dont play so you can give such helpful advice.

Single playthrough opinions do not matter.  That is not opinion, that is fact.
