Checking on other character builds with high levels I noticed that the stat for greatest damage dealt is usually lower than 200. And these are warriors with two handers, axes or swords.
A female dalish elf at level 15 is able to deal 352 damage with one arrow of slaying. I'm only using patch 1.01b.
How is that possible?

Yes its a fantasy and yes you can only do it once a minute.
Even so an Ogre gets turned into mincemeat by the other party members before it can even reach the elf.
So much for aggro...

I'm using FalonDin's Reach longbow found in thr brecilian forest ruins. I believe it was part of the dragon hoard.
Are there better bows? What is your experience with this number for greatest damage dealt?

1352 - Mana Clash



3rd most op spell in the game behind Combat magic and Shimmering Shield

Leliana hit some poor sod for 400+ last night with her Marjolaine Recurve bow and whatever talent she used. That's the most damage in one hit I've seen yet.

scored 632 with longsword berserker and last kill to a boss.Cant remember my blade but might do better with twohanded weapons and same tactic.

118 with dual wielding warrior, 417 with leliana archer specialization, 150 with alistair as a sword & shield, 500 something with Morrigan. All can do a lot of damage one crit can't overcome AoE spells or DPS on a rogue or warrior though.

^well, that last part there is the key, isn't it.  You can only do it once a minute,  Meanwhile, a buffed up warrior with a fully enchanted  melee weapon can do  around 150-200 damage multiple times in that minute

Still, it only takes one play-thru  to realize that Mages absolutely rule this game, in a very non-balanced way, in the Damage dealt department.

whats scary is doing over 800 damage to a boss and realizing it still has over 1/2 HP remaining

1500 mana clash on the mage general (hex of vunerability + spell might). 1 hit kill lol.

going to try to pull off a mana clash on archdemon... need to lower its resistance somehow

 1152 - dual weapon wielding rogue using heartseeker - voice of velvet main hand, vigilance off hand, mage had cast weakness.

Oh and a few odd runes on the sword and dagger.. nothing particularly special.

i hit the archdemons general in the alienage with venerability hex and then mana clash and got a 1 hit kill with 1813 damage. i also had spell might active

1353 Arrow of Slaying. Had Song of Courage and Accuracy on. Archers in Awakenings went from "I play this class for RP reasons" to "ZMOG!!!!".

Just over 4500 with mana clash on Gaxkang, vulnerability hex applied, using Wynne buffed to 212 spellpower (wisp, might, vessel, etc., active.

WOW...i must really suck at this game. I thought i was doing well when my 2h warrior got the 250 gamage achievement.

A little thread necro here. Keep in mind that AoS reverse scales. You do the WAY more damage against a weak critter then you do against a boss. You will not get anywhere near those numbers against anything that is tough.



A 250 hit with a two hand sword is good!

Since the last time I played Awakenings, I've come close to 2k with mana clash. A very QTF moment.

ability, I might use it when I import ÊÆRL STÕRM my elf mage into Awakening.

Mana clash? Hmmm... I can't remember exactly, but I had my magic at 90+, was wearing a belt and ring that gave me +2 to all attributes, and using Spellwaver, which is +5 magic. And since I was an AW, I completely cheated and used the Legion of the Dead heraldry on my shield.





So basically I was an overpowered killing machine. Twas quite awesome.

Peon's Plight and Heartseeker both do a ton of damage. They're similar to Arrow of Slaying.

Ah, yes, sorry. I should've said that I have no experience with the Awakening talents or spells whatsoever. But thanks for chiming in. It's good to know when I get there.

1203 highest damage, says the stat screen. I do not recall when that occured, truth to tell, but have no doubt it was mana clash un-augmented by hexes, since I don't use them much.

Currently at lvl 25, magic 86, spellpower 122, wielding staff of the magister lord, human mage, early in awakenings.  I seem to recall hitting the emissaries in the Fort Drakon for four digits, too.  This is the first character I built for DA:O, and the second one I'm taking through awakenings, and have not yet manual of focus'ed to fix my noob errors as I leveled her through DA:O. 

Loaded my dw rogue to see where he topped out: 1081, probably via a heartseeker in the back. dex 84, cun 111, wielding voice of velvet main and rose thorn offhand.  It also appears Anders hit someone for 1260 during this play-through.  Hmmm. Looks like my sweet red-headed Briona has a challenge to meet...can't let that lightweight hit harder than her!

Mana clash is your true bestest friend ever, ser mage, though I am also partial to thinning the herd with a storm of the century from afar...
