Soon as I first heard him I thought of Africa.  The two accents sound fairly different.

I remember seeing somewhere that the actual voice actor is Jamaican, but he did a West African accent so well that I couldn't tell anyway.

It does appear, though, that he isn't; Google is turning up nothing.

People say he sounds like he's from Jamaica because they've only seen Jamaicans on television.

Africa was my first thought too, but I went to a college with a large number of African students, and used to work a job where we dealt with a lot of African customers.  I think most people think Jamaica because they're not familiar with African accents.

I think the voice actor has to be that black guy from the Bourne Identity movie. The guy who he was supposed to kill. Sounds just like him.

It's kind of like Donovan Hock. I remember people making fun of his accent because they couldn't figure out what it was. Admittedly, I had no clue what kind of accent it was, either. Think it was South African. Either way, it's just a mix up.

I have met a jamaican and some africans in person, and Javik sounds absolutely jamaican.

Javiks voice threw me off the first time i heard it. I was expecting the same deal as vigil.

I too would have been confused by Hock's accent had I not seen Blood Diamond and District 9.

Hock's accent was a thick, heavy, and not exceptionally well done Afrikaans accent (South Africa).

Javik's accent was west African heavily influenced with 'standard' English.

Donovan Hock has russian accent.

Apparently the VA for Donovan Hock is South African, and he sounded South African when I first heard him, to my admittedly less than perfect ear. I guess that's the benefit of watching so many movies, even if they're not done well, you hear a LOT of different accents. But I've heard various African ones, so that's what made me think on it for Javik.
