I think the voice actor has to be that black guy from the Bourne Identity movie. The guy who he was supposed to kill. Sounds just like him.

I don't think it's the same actor, but it is the same accent. The guy in Bourne also played Mr. Eko from Lost, who was Nigerian.

Not ignorant, inquisitive and observant perhaps.

Personally I thought he sounded like a Jamaican man raised in Japan by Irish immigrants...but that's just my opinion...

Honestly, Javik sounds not unlike some of my Nigerian friends. I don't know where the Jamaican comments came from.

Javik didn't sound very much South African to me though.

He's actually a Nigerian prince, who has inherited a large cache of Prothean artifacts in the Artemis Tau cluster, but needs your help to get them past Citadel Customs.

I'd sooner believe Jamaican than South African. Nigerian sounds right though.

They say the cradle of civilization is Africa, and the protheans were known to have guided and altered human development, so maybe... conspiracy...

I thought African, never even considered Jamaican until I came to the forums and I still stand by my original assessment

Many people can't tell the difference between East African and Jamaican.

It's a big difference if you ask me.

What better way to characterize a militant race of conqueror aliens than by using a stereotypically militant African dialect? Real classy Bioware

He's definitely African. The people that think he's Jamaican probably don't even know where Jamaica is. Enough said.

A lot of it boils down to how experienced you are with different accents. I thought he was Nigerian right away, but I can see why people would go for Jamaican.

Because I'm white and I suck at guessing accents.

I thought it was Jamaican too but I believe you folks are right. He's African.

People say he sounds like he's from Jamaica because they've only seen Jamaicans on television.

Jamaica is the go-to accent for Hollywood's "wild-card black guy" voice, sadly.  Was nice to hear something different.  There are Eretraians, Ethiopians, Nigerians and other various regions represented in the neighborhoods around me so I've gotten to hear quite a variety over the years.

Alright am I the only one who gets that they were going for ancient = African?
You know, Africa being the origin of humanity and the first civilisations arising there? Duh?
