Ha, I swear I like make characters even more than playing the game.

I am about to start my second full play-through, and I must have remade my character at least a dozen times.

It's never quite perfect!

I'm driving myself nuts! :)

I did the same just for the sake of making my warden get a look like the sacred ashes trailer

Well I downloaded the character creator the day it was released and played around with it until the game itself was released... and I still fiddle with it, it's hard to make characters you're pleased with. This, of course, has made it next to impossible to play mass effect for me. I've tried, and I've lost count of how many times I've restarted just to get a look I'll feel comfortable playing with. Wish I could import my elf (avatar) into mass effect, would solve all problems :(

I have issues with this myself XD I make a char, start to play, them discover about 40 things I decide I don't like about them so I start over. I'll finish one game eventually lol

I'm in the same boat.

That's the DLC Bioware needs to add, the ability to edit character appearance after creation.

You can use the toolset to edit your characters face in-game (see here).  Not only that but there's more flexibility in the toolset for head morphs :P

I am trying to master toolset for this reason. I tried making my current character look more like me because my husband was joking about it and I wanted to see if I could. But there are certain things that look way different in the creator and the game. Toolset here I come!

I've made some very very horrible faces. I'm afraid to play my warrior because he just looks so scary. Didn't restart because I was -dying- to see what happened my first time through the game.

My arcane warrior (portrait now) is pretty close to what I wanted.

I'd love more presets, though! More non-ugly presets. Oh! Scars, too.

Is it possible to use the Toolset to modify bearded faces? The CC beard to mouth & cheek interaction is too limited. I can't get any good reviews for my Avatar Representative (at left) & I find myself wondering if it's because of what beards do to the cheeks & mouth. It's impossible to stop the cheeks & mouth from defaulting to certain values when ya beard up, & I heard of a trick to deal with it, & tried it, but it failed & didn't work. (The trick works until ya Save or Upload info, then fails. Posted Image)

I too am still tweaking faces after all this time. Posted Image I think I got Korgan, Gaublin, & Alisia done, & Xion is the only one I got right the 1st time, but still got work to do on Dugon thanks to the beard shenanigans, (Avatar Representative mentioned earlier) Elocyn, & Tayo. Tayo was designed to use this hair:

Except Red. She is NOT done until she has this hair or something as good!

Elocyn is likely next for tweaking. She's still on V1.0. (As of the time of this post.)

Exactly the same for me, for my city elf mage, Tayo. Still might have some work to do on Tayo's face, but even after that, she isn't done until she can have a GOOD hair option.

Update: I've tweaked Elocyn to V2.0! This is a shameless request for feedback on her thread please. Many thanks for your time!

Hint: I checked and you can also use the toolset to open character files in the Character Creator to check which eye colours you've got before you even start playing (And change them too :P). Rather than make a preset and force it onto an existing save I'd prefer to make a face in the character creator, try it out, then tweak it 'till it's right before starting propperly.

I enjoy the character creator but often find it somewhat limmiting (and sometimes wish it had as many options as the Oblivion facegen, which really had too many but not that many too many). It also would've been nice if half the hair colours hadn't all been shades of red.
