I'm posting this hopefully not to get a
bunch of trolls but to find what ppl enjoy the most of the game or just discuss
battle tactics right down to char leveling.

Just looking for a constructive community interaction for
once, no offense to the majority but these forums are some of the worst I've
even been on for whining & trolling non-stop :(

I understand it is human nature to nit-pick at things so to
say but please just looking for positives here...items, weapons, armors,
specializations, dialogue options, shields found.....fun & safe
mods....informative websites about dragon age all these things would be nice.

Hope to get some good responses guys

Hi. :) I have to be honest ... Dragon Age is the only RPG game that I have re-played. I've already created a 20 Blood Mage/Spirit Healer and a 19 Duelist/Assassin. I actually bought another box because I recently made Aislin who is my Bow Maiden and wanted to track her achievements separate from my original collector's edition I bought.

I personally have enjoyed the game graphics and voice actors. The only thing I wish is that my character had a voice actor when I clicked my response which would of been cool for more of an interaction feeling.

Combat Tactics rock! I honestly will not allow my character to die. Meaning if I loose a battle, I will reload and figure how or why or what I should of done differently the first time. The pause feature is the bomb for taking control of companions and setting them up for their battle movement/plans.

I think the weapon effects are really awesome, like the Cold VFX and Flames. Many of the cut scenes were done nicely and I love when I see my character involved in a cut scene, I am like oh oh there I am. ;-)~ Yes, I know cheesy,

What do I love the most? Well, I've been playing in the tool set and amazed the abundance of choices you have. :) I've started with morphing faces and now moved onto the gear. It is really awesome to be able to create something specific for your character that you named it.

Example: This is the set I made for my Aislin.

Heart of Justice (her chest piece)
Hands of Fate (her gloves)
Swiftness of Nike (her boots)
Helm of the Titan (helm)
Bow of the Winds (her bow)
Vampires Kiss (amulet)
Ring of Hope (ring)
Everlasting Love (ring)

I mean that is the COOLEST thing I've ever done is creating, naming my own equipment to use in game. I totally love it. :)

 Anyway, my post is getting long so I'll cut it short for now and look forward to others responses as well. Be sure to check out projects that so many players and designers are working on, many are truly talented!

Here is a link to my first uploaded project face morph so I could use Morrigan's hair but with a soft and pretty face for a playable character. social.bioware.com/project/1088/

wow very in depth & great response. I really appreciate since there are so few constructive & just fun discussions on here :( I agree the toolkit is awesome, I'm hoping to take some time from playing to learn how to use the toolkit myself.

Nothing major just a couple bows or swords with some specific stat boosts i would like.

Glad to hear you enjoy it so much, i see so many complaints on here instead of ppl just enjoying the game & show appreciation.

I love the tactics system when set correctly its fun to be able to just focus on your main char & really enjoy your moves, the animations & just winning the battle while playing your char most of the battle.

I think one of my favorite things about this game is the characters to pick up in your party, there history and overall development as you talk to them in your camp.

Sten is hilarious, his 1 to 2 word answers for everything is great, and Alistairs lame humor, awesome.

I find it fun to change up the party a lot just to listen to them talk to each other, you not only get a relationship with your party but they seem to form one with each other as well.

Ya same here, being able to set a mage to heal the tank if i dont get that heal off fast enough haha, im not very good a micromanaging so the tactics are great :D

I just picked up Orghen. Love the burping.

It is a little tedious at times, but pausing micro managing battles is what I like to do.

I play a rogue PC assassain/duelist : dag/dag cunning build with Org, Morr (spirit healer), and Shale...obviously in the Anvil of the Void / Guantlet part right now.

Game's good.

Very nice, I'm playing a dual wielding warrior & this tiem around I've found so much more. I absolutely love my char even more than my 1st which i did not think was possible. lol.
Personally I like everything to match armor, shield, weapon & Alistair matches with all 3. Connar my char has mtaching axes which as a kind of OCDish person just makes me smile everytime I look at my char knowing how ridiculously awesome he looks!!!
Anyways I just really like the attention to detail in the game such as how the Grey Warden (dragon bone) Shiled & massive plate armor match perfectly from Warden's Keep & Asturian's Might matches the armor as well!!!

I couldnt' agree more, every Bioware game I have played I have fell in love with the characters & story.
Same goes for DA:O almost every last line of dialogue is just fantastic in this game & I think they really set the stanards on this older genre.

I like DA:O a lot also. Posted Image

I like the rp conversation, the voices, the tactics in battle and the game.  I also like to opt like mad in some cases. Posted Image

I liked Baldur's Gate and Mass Effect also. BioWare is one of my two favourite game-companies (together with Blizzard). I really like that they launch playable games that are not sold as Beta-testing material. (And I hate many other ****ty companies, e g Funcom,  who treats games with no quality control whatsoever. I typically don't play strategy-based RPGs but I really enjoyed this game. I'll admit, I am not one of those people who like to go all HARDCOREOMG and beat the game on Nightmare solo... Really, I just wanted to try it and see what the story was like...and it totally sucked me in. I'm re-thinking my membership in the OMGALISTAIR comms because I can't limit my liking to any one character. In fact, I probably like Shale more these days but that's another tangent.

I've played as a rogue, warrior and an just starting as a mage. I'm really glad the play styles are different enough (at least for me). Bah, I'm not much of a hardcore gamer...all I wanted to say was that I like this game for its writing.

Not to get too off topic but I never played anything from Funcom aside from AoC(Age of Conan) which I really enjoyed to lv37 until I got sick of paying along with feeling pvp was broken...plus MMO's fail to entertain me. I'm hyped for The Old Republic since it very well maybe the 1st MMO to have plot & a truly deep& rich story not just grinding levels & getting random loot drops.

Back to DA:O I love that they gave us sucha  wide variety of companions who differ so much inpersonality. I just discovered Wynne on my second play through never took time to chat with her the 1st time around & she is probably my favorite char!

Yeah I would have to bsaically I agree I really lean toward Wynne but I really love talking to all my party members. I really like that they took theout of combat just wondering around dialogue between characters like in ME.
I would also have to agree that even though you can play as a warrior, archer, rogue, & mage all on your 1st play through i can still enjoy a second playthrough b/c its me, my char that is now the warrior ro mage & its still just as much fun plus I'm finding even more than on my 1st play through!!!!

Keep all the comments coming guys we actually have a constructive real pot going for once. Also I would like to offer any help to ne1 who is stuck or would like suggestions on tactics. So many negative threads & trolls out there I want to keep this thread open as long as possible for item location, hidden convos, little codex entries ppl find interesting or just to help each other with battles in game.

Well, Oblivion was my favorite game of all time. I say was because I'm fairly certain Dragon Age has taken the crown.

When I'm playing I'm totally absorbed. Time flies by and I hardly even notice. Thankfully my keyboard has a clock on it or I'm sure I would've played much later than I should've on many occasions.

When I'm not playing I'm thinking about playing. When I should be working I'm surfing these forums. Today I was told I'm getting a raise so I guess no harm has been done. Yet.

I've played through the game once already, I'm two thirds of the way through a second trip and I'm making plans for a third. The replayability is through the roof!  I bought myself a PS3 and a bunch of games during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals and I'm pretty sure it's going to sit there until I'm done with my third trip at least.

I'm totally addicted basically.  Thanks BioWare!!

I must appreciate a game in order to stomach my way through 3 incomplete playthroughs just because I know there's something in the game worth seeing.

After starting the 4th playthrough (never having seen the ending) with the game 66% complete, I had a...well, its not an experience I've had with RPGs in quite some time. Was amazing.

Its not often that I have to be such a perfectionist with how a game is supposed to play out, but with DA:O I just felt I needed to get it 'right', and when I did I certainly knew it.

Of course now I can't bring myself to replay it because that Grey Warden is THE Grey Warden.

I think that's a high point for the RPGs I've played - usually I just grind through all the different characters I can make and areas I can visit and party combinations I can have - this time things really stood out, enough to make me want to remember the PC and all the adventures he had with Morrigan, Zevran, and Dog.

Oh god I am still a huge Oblivion fan... I don't know; I just feel the games offer two completley different things. After I'm done with Dragon Age's great story-telling, I'll probaby go back to the openness and expansive possibilities in Cyrodiil...although I admit, it will be a little lonlier without the banter.

Ya oblivion is my all time favorite as well, but i must say DA:O is amazing!
The re-play is awesome! Im on my second play through as a Dalish Mage, my first was a Human Noble Warrior Tank, that was awesome.
I didnt think a second play through could be as much fun as the first, but playing a completely different race and style of play makes it a totally different experience. im currently at Redcliffe, soon to be heading to the Dalish, that should be fun since im Dalish :D
My mage is a healer/support/croud control, very fun, I take care of those nasty mages and archers while keeping my tank alive, LOVIN IT !!!

I'm currently playing my second character, a City elf rogue, after completing the game once with a mage. Next one will be a human noble warrior.

I often replay games, but I normally take a break of a few weeks/months at least between playthroughs. Not this time. I just don't feel like playing anything else!

I used Wynne in my first trip through the game as a human noble warrior and spoke with her often. I haven't used her at all in my second trip as an elf mage. I spoke with her a bit in camp last night because I read she has stuff to say about my relationship with Leliana. She had different dialog options and responses this time because I was a mage. I guess I should've expected that, but it sort of caught me by surprise.

That made me wonder if it's even possible to see all there is to see in this game. I really don't think so, not within reason anyway. That's one of the things that makes this game so good: there's so much stuff in it!

I love the interaction between the characters. I usually spend way too much time talking to people as well. It honestly makes me a little sad when i reach their the limit of their dialogue a and they have nothing new to say to me anymore. I could have probably cut 10 hours or more off the game with less time spent conversing with my party.

The story is very good and I will probably end up buying the PC version for the more tactical play style and the toolset.

I know what you mean about talking to your companions. I did that constantly and I stop and talk to every NPC along the way no matter who they are incase they have something insightful to say. ;p Some of our companions are down right hilarious as your walking along and the discussions they have. Leliana and Sten are funny together always. Alastair well, I must say that he is a little dreamy with his humor and sentiment/shyness. I think I'll marry Aislin to him this go around. :wizard:

The characters in the game are outstanding, and the story becomes even richer as I go along.

This is not only one of my favorite games, it's earned a proud place in my library as one of my favorite tales.

Definitely the story telling and it literally sucked me right into game. I haven't ran across a game like this is in a while. I also like talking with all of the companions. Each one has a spectacular background on themselves! The characters and the voice acting are top notch which makes it even better.

The party banter between the companions is quite comical at times.

I really like the line that they write here. It is very nice for contemplating.

Me : "Tell me what you think of Ferelden."

Sten : "Your world is very strange. Your farmers wish to be merchants. Your merchants dream of being nobles. And the nobles become warriors. No one is content to be who they are."

Me : "Don't the qunari ever want to change their lot in life?"

Sten: "What does that accomplish? The farmer who buys a shop is never a merchant: He is always a farmer-turned-merchant. He carries his old life with him as a turtle carries its shell."

Me : "But that makes the turtle stronger."

Sten: "Does it? It's also his weakness. If he stumbles and fall over, it pins him on his back. It is better to armor yourself with no more than what you need. One life, one duty."

Me : "You don't think happiness is important?"

Sten: "You can learn to find it in doing your duty, in serving your people. There is no need to search for it. Shall we move on?"
