In any case, this game is simply Bioware, and the stamp of quality is consistent. Dragon Age is yet another worthy title. The fact that it's a success is no surprise at all.

This is prolly a weird praise to many, but it has to be said, this game has somehow brought me and the wifey even closer together. I'm kind of shocked that she would be interested in "dark fantasy". I got her Sims 3, thought she would like a "virtual doll house", but instead, she's happier going around killing people, slicing off heads and being a bad girl.

Wow that is any awesome little story & yes I realize this is a super late response. Haha. Glad to see so many people really enjoy this amazing game.

I'm using some mods in my second playthrough. Here are some of my favorites:
Pineapptree's Vibrant Colors (outstanding!)
Viking Armor (Viking & Valkyrie -- the Valkyrie gives a soft blue glow to Sten's face -- nice touch)
Dragon Plate (Dragon Knight Armor & Weapons -- IMO the in game Commander's helm goes great with this armor))
Some New Items (Dragon Killer Longsword (wicked detail) and other goodies such as a shield, staffs, helms and armor)
Kite Shield with Eagle
Shadow Warden's Armor
Black Templar Armor (looks awesome on Alistair!)
Master Archer Armor
Arcane Warrior Armor (I have Morrigan as an Arcane Warrior -- sweet! -- she can wield a sword & shield and still cast spells)
Battlemage Armor (use a helm in this mod for Morrigan's Arcane armor)
Beyond Ferelden Base Chest (there are 2 separate dagger mods -- Wardens Luck & Fentris -- that show up in the chest)
Scarab Monkey Storage (armor & weapons gear racks in camp)
Innodil's Pocket Plane (storage, enchantment, and specialization in an alternate plane)
Grey Warden's Castle (your own castle)
Bodahn's Tweaks
Better Archery with a separate Andraste's arrows mod (flame and ice-tipped arrows anyone?)
Personal Annoyance Removal (removes irritating auras)
Icon of Awars (awesome mage staff)
Armor Runes (forgot the actual name)
Death Blows (for Lieutenants & above -- more beheading etc)
Jake's Phat Loot
Larger Conversation Text
Rings of the Ancients (6 rings in this mod)
Ring of the Maker
I'm using other mods as well, but these stand out in my memory.

I simply cannot get enough of DA:O. It's completely immersive and I love the dialog and bantering amonsgst party members.

1) The beauty of it all in the design. I mean look up at the night sky while in camp and you'll see what I'm talking about, or go to the pier in Redcliff and look out over the water. It's amazing design.
2) The diversity and interaction between the characters is astounding, making it so that sometimes you love them to death and other times they annoy you to death. Just like real companions!
3) Leleana(spelling) yep she's awesome as a love interest.
4) Oh and the first time I went to the Pearl and was given the option of what I wanted, and I said "surprise me" I laughed for 20 minutes after seeing my guy there naked with 2 Nugs!!!!

As for me was curious about how much it would resemble past Bioware games, and I for one am not disappointed at all.
The characters are all pretty interesting along with how they converse with eachother and how they view the world and you as the player (with Leliana definitely standing out). It all fits perfectly.
Everything ranges from very good to excellent when it comes to story, graphics, gameplay, musical score and so on.
You come to care about a lot of people inhabbiting the world and that's one thing very few games can do for me.
It automatically makes you think about decisions you have to make in order to (hopefully) get the result you want.
The game contains a lot of nifty surprises and plottwists and keeps it all very interesting.
There hasn't been abetter time for Bioware to release a game such as this, and I hope they keep quality standards they are known for (sky)high. I consider this game a classic already.
The Bioware people really deserve praise.
Cheerio !

Some mods are absolutely great, while others are pure trash. Some conflict with other similar mods, so you can't combine a lot of mods that conflict by trying to override each other. These are good standalone mods, but it's unfortunate that they aren't compatible. Seriously, the modders should ensure that their downloadable products, even though they are free, work well with other mods along the same vein, which would entail getting together with other modders to provide compatibility fixes.
However, most of the mods I'm using are fabulous (some dupe in the inventory
DAO hasn't been out very long (approaching 2 months) yet there are nearly 1,000 mods either available now or in the works, with more to come! Some experienced NWN/NWN2 modders are attempting new dungeons, towns, areas, characters, etc. There are some very exciting times ahead!
