EA don't care. The preorder stats show that ME3 got enough preorders for 2 games.

DA2 did that job all on its own.

Bad games are one thing but it's all the lies and bull we were fed again from LioWare that has made me fed up with them. I will wait for their games to hit the bargain bins before I buy them now. I shouldn't have to wait very long!!!

They no longer a "must buy / pre-order" developer IMO. I wish they would take the energy and effort they do on their marketing and put it into making decent games.

Shouldn't this be in the dragonage threads? Besides my answer is no DA2 was decent even if it was rushed if they take their time on it a little more I can see no problems.

well for me neither DA2 or ME3 are bad games....yes they have issues (which bother some more than others) but there is no reason why i wont preorder DA3....unless the pre-order items are useless

DA2 crippled DA3 pre-orders/sales. ME3's ending was just the nail in the coffin.

After having played the demo of DAII, I never got tempted to buy the game, let alone preorder a possible successor.

That has nothing to do with ME3, but everything with the obvious quality of the DA franchise.

Bioware have said that you will be able to import your characters from Dragon Age 1 and 2 into DA3 'to shore up world consistency'.

Remember kids, your choices matter in the end!

Gigamantis, yes, BioWare disappointed me with DA2. The goodwill they built up with ME1 and ME2 was enough for me to consider DA2 a "blip". I'm not making threats, even if you see it as such. If it looks awesome I'll consider buying it, but not without finding out from player reviews, who've actually completed it, if it's any good.

Fool me once- shame on you.
Fool me twice- shame on me.

Yes, BioWare fooled me with ME3, which is pure awesome for 99% of the time. Had I known what I know now, I'd still buy it, but not preorder and not at day-one price.

BioWare have broken my trust, and as much as your seeming to think that that's irrelevant, it will have an impact.

If I come back 1 year from now to verify that I didn't preorder DA3 but waited until it was on sale, does that mean you've been a fool for a year? Does it really matter?

If DA3 is looking amazing in a year and you're still able to stick to your guns then good for you, but you'll be a minority within a minority.  Chances are good that for every one of you who leaves EA will bring in 2 or 3 more "new" fans, so in the grand-scheme you would be an unfortunate but acceptable loss.

I personally would pre-order a game that's pure awesome for 99%.  99% is way more awesome than you get for most games.

Funny you should mention that. This was exactly Bioware's logic as far as DA2 was concerned. They expected it to FAR outsell DAO due to all the new fans it was supposed to generate...so the fans they knew they would be alienating, they'd be acceptable losses.

Welll....

Things didn't work out as planned now did they? Even the planned expansion and the ultimate edition were canned due to retailer disinterest.

They key idea you're overlooking is trust and the power even a single person with an internet connection can have. When a company loses the trust of it's customers, it never bodes well for that company. In today's world of viral news and instant headlines generated from cell phones and such, a minority opinion..if it even is a minority.......backed up by social media is like a match in a forest. Just look at the story of ME3 itself if you disagree. What started in forums is now EVERYWHERE you see or hear mention of ME3, even outside the gaming media. It's extremely bad pr and isn't good for Bioware no mater which way you look at it.

Why else do you think one of the founders had to address it?

As far as how awesome something looks...ask yourself how many films and games looked awesome that weren't?

Same thing happened to DA2.

With all the critical praise it got, it was word of mouth that halted sales. So, never underestimate the power a so called
"vocal minority" can have in today's world of social media and instant headlines, a fact Bioware has learned...and may continue to learn....the hard way.

I don't know. I want to have good game, but I have good game with ME3, but with that ending, I don't want to play ME whole serie anymore ( the paradox is - I liked Shepard too much, to face ending like that 'art' they made).

I don't want it happed with DA as well... So I do not preorder. I would, but I will be afraid of that kind of 'ART' again.

Bioware games was not average, always was and is exceptonal. I was always attached to my character and liked to play. So I dont want to be stabbed in the back in the end. I don't want to invest in my character and feel hurt. I probably will not play until somene tells me it is awesome.

And this is lack of trust.....

I'm certainly not pre-ordering Dragon Age 3 until i use user reviews from this site. Sure there are numerous members that go into overdrive on criticising Bioware but these are where the more 'passionate' fans are.

No. DA2's DRM has destroyed my DA3 preorder. It prevented me from (legally) playing my preodered game until over a month later when they patched it.

Plus, I'll wait for user reviews.

DA2 destroyed pre-orders for DA3, ME3 had just destroyed faith in any Bioware franchise at this point. Bottom line is if companies don't continue to deliver the same or better quality of product as they received in the past from the same company. The customers will take their business elsewhere. Also at this point Pro review sites and magazines can't be trusted to give a bias review since they are enslaved to the powerful game developers just like politicians are indebted to special interest groups.

100% agreed... DA2 was like goint to the same place over and over again, with different doors though... lol

it was a very poor attempt to make DA more like ME... now the next one will be a very poor attempt to make it look like Skyrim, and the next one maybe it will become something like... garbage

The pre-order numbers will be interesting for sure. As will sales over a 12 week period to see if people pick it up later if its good.

The next BioWare game will be the first BioWare game I haven't pre-ordered since.....hell. I can't remember when.

Personally from where I am standing I see a lot of people angry Bioware fans and gamers. However I also see a lot of Hardcore Bioware fans so I wouldn't be putting money on the pre-orders being minimal just yet.

I thought DA2 was a fluke, a horrible fluke, but not indicative of fundamental problems at BioWare.

TOR was rather lacking and almost on life support after a budget of $300 million and 6 years in development. But that was made by BioWare Austin.

ME3, the crown jewel of BioWare made by the main team in Edmonton, surely they cannot fail. But they did.

Do you know what the definition of insanity is? Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

Thus I will stop buying BioWare games until at least 2-4 weeks post release. Especially since I cannot trust mainstream gaming sites to provide accurate or unbiased reviews.
