This has pretty much destroyed pre-orders for me on anything(by Bioware or anyone else for that matter)...I will wait to see what the feedback is before I buy and I don't mean from professional reviewers either. I intend to give DA3 a fair chance though...I'm not writing them off by any means.

Pre-orders used to insure that a copy of the game would be waiting for you at your local retailer. Obviously availability (except for limited versions like CE's) is no longer a problem, but pre-ordering has continued because the manufacturers have sweetened the pot by attaching dlc for those who do it. Nothing wrong with that. It is hard to predict pre-order sales because of a lot of variables, and how much "sugar" an EA, or any company for that matter, adds is one of them. I look for even more of "goodies" than usual to be added to drive sales, so it may seem that all is well in "Bioware Land"........and perhaps it is. I happen to believe that DA2 was a good game if I judge it be the standards I expect from most other game manufacturers, But based on Bioware's previously exemplary offerings, it left much to be desired imo. The same applies to ME3. If any "group" is saying that it is a lousy game (I haven't seen that) then I would have to question their sanity Image IPB,  I see brilliance, coupled with mediocrity, in it. Not what I expect from Bioware because of their past excellence. All of this downward trending seems have started within the time frame of the EA purchase. That is just my opinion, if people agree or disagree, that's cool.

I am still hopefully optimistic about future Bioware/EA releases, but I won't be pre-ordering or purchasing at launch. I will wait to see how it is received by media outlets and the community.....in the past, I would never have waited. Are there more people out there like me? Yeah. Are we a fringe minority or something more? Time may tell, depending on the amount of sweetening that goes into the pot......heck, EA may even make an offer that I "can't refuse" Image IPB

No it will not affect my decision to buy Dragon Age 3. As Dragon Age 2 has already convinced me to never buy a Dragon Age game again. The 'awesome' button was just far too much fun for me.

Is Kingdoms of Amalur any good?

As ever it depends what you like. Download the demo, it's representative of the writing and graphics. But every glitch/bug you see in the demo was fixed in the full game. Animation is greatly improved too, it's a little goofy in the demo but really good in the full game.

It's rated higher than ME3 on Amazon and still holding its original price over a month later.

Played the demo 2 months ago- ironically, just to get the armour (pure WIN) and gun (way too heavy for me to use) for ME3. LOVED it.

Have ordered it online, now I have a player's opinion.

I'll be acting the same way with DA3- no buying until I get players' opinion.

CoSarahJinstar----"DA2 did that on it's lonesome, however with how dishonest the marketing was with ME3, and the obvious out cry at the half assed ending. It certainly isn't going to help DA3 preorders."

No, it won't. The question is whether or not there are enough people willing to sit on their wallets instead of throwing money at a company that is failing to live up to its former reputation as a maker of cRPGs for people who enjoy PnP games but don't have a group with which to game or whose schedules don't allow for such indulgences on a regular basis. The new demographic EAWare appears to be targeting is significantly different than you, Sylvius the Mad, The Woldan, EyesofaStorm, and myself.

Not for me- I still remember DA:O. What an excellent game. And Bioware is saying all the right things about DA3- namely that it will go back to the roots of the series in play style and they are also heavily researching Skyrim to improve the series.

Oh I remember DA:O too, but that's the thing, everything Bioware has said so far has hinted at the fact it'll still be more of DA2.

As for the topic at hand, I agree with everyone who's said that DA2 already did that job just fine. I didn't buy DA2 and only rented it and depending on where DA3 goes, I might rent it too. Buying is out of the question. And to those that question the resolve of angry fans, this angry fan actually did say he wouldn't buy DA2 and to this day I still haven't.

Hey, I still believe in Bioware. Like a parent believing in their kid even though they catastrophically messed up on an exam. The good they've done greatly outweighs the bad in the long run (I'm talking about their track record in general) but that doesn't mean I think fans shouldn't be angry. Trust me, they've messed up recently. What makes it even worse in ME3's case is that it's actually a fantastic game. :(

DA2 did a fine job of that.
It's a wait-and-see for sure.

For what it is worth. I will not be spending anymore money on Bioware because of the last 10 minutes of ME3, and DA2.

The mess that was DA2 will hurt more that ME3. They really arent connected in my mind.

They are intricately related in my mind. It's clear that both were awesome games that were decimated by the need to cut corners in order to meet a release date.

I can't predict the effects on a large scale, but I can say that I will hold off on DA3 for a few weeks and see what people have to say.

Hah. Yeah I'll agree with DA2 did a fine job on its own. ME3 may cement the "wait and see and/or price reduction" crowd.

Personally and I think everyone should do this. Don't pre-order or buy DLC's.

I personally won't be pre-ordering anymore Bioware/EA games. I might still buy them if user reviews are good.

I'm not pre-ordering it for the two obvious reasons listed in pages 1-8.

Not buying it now.

If i were ever silly enough to pay for a game before there was any decent feedback available, i would say DA2 did the damage in regard to me not ordering DA3, not ME3.

Anyone who pre orders a game, shouldn't come crying when they realise the game sucks. After all, there's more stinkers than gems, so they only have themselves to blame. Nowt to do with the devs.

There were TWO DAII preorders in my household. (And, Whatever one thinks of DAII after it was patched, at release, the game was pretty unplayable, full of game breaking bugs.). We learned an expensive lesson: Bioware treated the DAII preorder crowd as beta testers and we did not find the DA 'new' direction to be enjoyable.

So there were 0 ME3 preorders from our household. We ignored the hype. After seeing what we have on the ending controversy, we are very glad we waited. Ultimately there will prob be a single ME3 order, but most likely a used or way discounted copy only.

There will be no DAIII preorders from either of us. I doubt we will buy it at all, but if BioWare made a solid DAIII game (to us, a game virtually nothing like DAIII) we would probably buy a single copy.

Our lost PRE- sales and duplicative sales (so neither had to wait the other finishing the game) don't make a blip on anyone's radar but our own, I know. But I'm not going to reward a company's bad business behavior (broken DAII at launch) or inferior quality products (DAII) or giving untruthful publicity about the nature of the game (ME3).
