Just remembered what I was thinking of writing in this an hour ago :P

If Bioware were to release ME on PS3 too, they would have to patch ME2 abit, so that ME2 would recognize the ME1 files too.
They would have to put this into ME3 too.

Well for my sake, I wouldn`t care much if they didn`t patch in the import thing into ME2 and ME3. As long as I got to play the ME story.

I would expect that near the end of the current console's lifespan (probably in ~2 years) they'll release an updated version to get the last few dollars out of the PS3 before everyone has switched to a PS4. I don't say that to be cynical, but I don't think the extent to which Microsoft would be miffed at them would be worth the amount of profit they'd get right now. In a couple years, Microsoft won't care because there will be new consoles on the market.

MASS EFFECT 1 on PS3 CAN BE DONE, but we have to move our butts and ask, ask, ask.
Show that we want it and that we want to give EA/Bioware the money.
That Mass Effect 1 is a profitable move.

THIS

All we can do is show that there are people out there who love this trilogy that they want to be able to play it from start to finish on their preferred platform and we are willing to pay for it.  If we can get the support and the numbers behind such a cause then who knows what can happen ... after all what's the worse that can happen?

There's zero question that the game would turn a profit, the question is "how angry would Microsoft be"?  Right now, being able to play the entire trilogy is a selling point for the 360 and EA does not want to anger the big bully in the room.

No, If they are going to release it on the PS3 it should be released as was originally intended -- importable save files.

If they don't. it will just be a dumbed down experience and it would have been a waste of time to have released it on PS3 in the first place -- ME2 and ME3 would be exactly the same as they are now.

My wish would be for Bioware/EA to release ME1 (with DLC) using the ME2/ME3 engine.

If that's not possible - then release it as it is on the Xbox360 (with the DLC).

True, but that shouldn't stop us from showing support for a kick start campaign to show that there are people who are passionate about this.

I love Mass Effect but
XBOX 200$
ME1 (budget price) + DLCs 25$
ME2 (budget price) + DLCs 35$
ME3 60$

320$ to play Mass Effect series on 360, how many would pay for it?
It can't be a selling point.

You won't get the original original Mass Effect, but I think a ME1 re-make with ME3's gameplay and functionality into ME2 won't be too far away.

Uh, I don't think you understand.  I'm not saying people are buying the 360 just to play Mass Effect.  I'm saying that the fact that the whole trilogy is on 360 is something that people who are deciding which console to get may heavily take into account, just like people who love the Yakuza games and JRPGs are much more likely to get a PS3 instead of a 360.

You do understand why companies like to have exclusives in the first place, correct?

Microsoft was only the publisher of ME1 for Xbox, they don`t own any right for it.

EA is the copyright holder for the whole franchise, and they can do whatever they want with it.

I'd purchase the original ME for PS3 in an instant.

However the bigger issue is that ME2 for PS3 wasn't made to allow ME1 imports. So playing ME1 would just be for the experience, not to flow Shep's story on thru the rest of the saga.

I'd guess they could patch that without too much trouble.

Are you a programmer?

I'll heed to your knowledgable guess if you are.

If not, I'll take a guess too; Numerous issues could occur when changing the plot flag system, which would probably be highly affected by slapping a ME1 save import feature on to the game. In addition, funds and resources would need to be shuffled to provide a timeline of support for both the new ME1 and adjusted ME2.

Of course Bioware can still patch in the import codes to ME2.
Developers patch in bigger stuff than that.
But the question is, would they bother to?

Yes Mass Effect isn't on that list as it came out in 2007 but wait

http://en.wikipedia....os_(game_studio)

Under Software development studios look what it says for under the Former/Defunct column

Under Owned franchises and properties Mass Effect is not listed.

So unless I am missing something Mass Effect is owned by Bioware and Microsoft do not own the console rights.

And it won't be there because Microsoft does not own Bioware. Take a look at the other compaines, all of them are subsidairies or were acquired by Microsoft at some point.

The fact remains that Micrsoft  published the original Mass Effect, thus giving Microsoft publishing rights for it.
Demiurge Studios most likely paid money and got permission to publish ME on the computer. Other than that, ME will remain a XBOX- 360 title only.

I'm not a programmer (I am going to school, but that certainly does not make me an expert by any stretch), but given that save import functionality was a part of the original game, it doesn't seem to me as though it would be an immense undertaking to put it back in for the PS3 version.  I assume the comic thing creates a sort of "faux save," which would mean that the game essentially imports a save file already.  It's entirely possible all the functionality for importing a ME1 game is already there and they just have it disabled because there's currently no need for it.

I think all Mass Effect choices are already there on ME2.
I think it's more work to remove the content then add it from a complete work.
Anyway, as peaceful as I want to be.
If Bioware messed it it's their problem.
We have to strike hard and strike now.
We have a point.
Bioware has listened to the fan that didn't have an ending.
They must listen to those who hasn't a beginning.

I say it again.
This has to be peaceful, I prefer the paragon road, but that doesn't mean I'm not ready for a more aggressive battle.
But, if we don't have an answer by the end of April, we go full renegade and charge like Krogans.
