No...MS owns the rights to ME1, it's not gonna happen...

It's amazing how only like 3 people in this thread actually understand how publishing rights work.

The real reason it won't happen any time soon is simply that it would make Microsft angry.  That's it.  EA knows a lot of people would buy it.  But "a lot of PS3 players" isn't that many people compared to their 360 fanbase.  Come on guys, use your brains.  If someone walks into Wal-Mart and thinks "Which system should I get?  I hear Mass Effect is one of the best RPGs ever" guess which system they'll probably buy?  THE ONE WITH ALL THREE GAMES ON IT.

It's not a legal issue at this point.  At all.  Period.  Full stop.

Reasons aside ea kinda did nothing to really promote me2 on ps3 on my end it sold due to word of mouth. I know a ton if people who bought it only because ign reviewd it and they felt it was worth checking into. Luckily i purchased 1 and 2 on steam and bought me 2 on ps3 so i can play lazily.

They already HAVE clarified.  BioWare has said that ME1 on PS3 is "not likely".  If it were literally impossible, they'd have said so instead of "not likely".  They could do it if they wanted to (meaning, if EA let them).

Received a message earlier :(

http://social.biowar...3/index/5473970

Seems Microsoft do own it (thread is from a year ago though).
Thanks for sending the information Dr.Tobias Funke.

I guess that makes this thread moot too?

We should transform that "not likely" into likely.
And the PS3 Mass Effect userbase is not so little to be ignored.
Yes, the can avoid to ****** MS, and doing so they ****** Sony and PS3.
It's to be mentioned that PS3 is the console from which EA gets more revenue.
You can quickly google it to find the data.

LOL, this Dr.Funke has been harrassing me for days now.
I don't know if it's a troll without a life or what.Based on the Pachter's stuff he mentioned we shouldn't have had Mass Effect 2 either.Leave the naysayers do our job to troll.
He tries to "indoctrinate" us :P
I'll keep trying unless we get a yes or no.Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is the proof that something can be done.
We must put pressure on EA, that's all.

The main problem that many don't see is that Bioware is unsure if it's ok to release a game so late in the cycle, when MS publishing rights have expired.
That's what keeps them on the fence.
They have to know it that PS3 gamers want the game.

Publishing rights do not run in perpetuity though. For console games I'd give it about a 5 year run simply because consoles get upgraded at a semi-respectable clip.

As for EA not wanting to annoy Microsoft. People said that EA wouldn't release Grand Theft Auto on XBox for similar reasons and wowser, it's there. Companies can't afford to take game companies decisions on where to release too personally or they'll be left without content.

I suspect I the next year or so we'll have ME the Collectors edition with all 3 games, all DLC content and extra content upgraded graphics too and probably runnin on the ME3 engine. It'll be released on all platforms. But PS3 users do need to make our desires known as politely as possible. I like including what we miss out on too!

If you look barely on a consumer point, one of those things that always win in American courts.
The product that is given to PS3 owners is "stripped of content", too much content I would say as megabug cleaverly gathered.
And the paid price for the product is the same.
We have much more right to ask, than the retake ME movement.
But I don't see why we are silent and not rage.

It will never get released on ps3 because then they'd have to rerelease mass effect 2 and 3 with save compatibility

That's a cop out - anything is possible if the assets exist and the costs are reasonable.

It may be a cost issue which will determine whether ME1 gets released.

This.
What scares EA Bioware is releasing a title 5 years old, 6 by the eventual release.

Nothing you do in Mass Effect 1 matters in the subsequent games, at least nothing that you can't select in the intro screen, so what would be the point? The "far reaching consequences" that were used as a marketing tool for the subsequent games are laughably cosmetic, so it's not like there's any reason to customize a save for ME2 or ME3. Mass Effect 1 is a good game to play for its own sake, but you can borrow or rent an XBox 360 if you really want that experience. The game itself is dirt cheap, I purchased another copy after I loaned my original copy to a friend.

I think that's not the issue.  We were given two thirds of a 'book'. The middle and the end.

We deserve the full experience regardless of consequences whether cosmetic or not.
The Interactive comic 'Genesis' does Mass Effect no justice at all.

I know from playing Mass Effect 2 first that a lot of the backstory didn't make sense or seemed vague.
Playing Mass Effect afterwards connected the dots which made my second playthrough of Mass Effect 2 more enjoyable.

It seems that all the objections are from people who have played Mass Effect on PC/XBOX360 (or perhaps did what I did and bought the Xbox360 to play it).

Just because I did that doesn't mean I don't want it on the PS3.
The PS3 is my preferred console and of course I would want my favorite franchise to be on my preferred console.

The Mass Effect trilogy has become 2nd in my Top 3 favorite franchises - Final Fantasy lost out and dropped to 3rd.

@prazision they could just buy the rights or draw up a contract...it doesn't have to be set in stone. Also about it being 'not likely' I remember a few years them saying that there was NO WAY Mass Effect 2 would be released on PS3...then zip bang--literally a few months later...oh wait, yes it is.

The years have passed on since then, I don't see the harm in fans asking for it. Things change. Who'd have thought we'd have got Mass Effect 2.

The Witcher 2 just got a clean up...why not Mass Effect one?

Also... well @megabug7 says it better than I do, we deserve the full experience and we want it. So why the hell can't we ask for it?

I want it on PS3. I said before do a kickstarter on it and if we don't reach the total fair enough we will forget about it.

Majority of sales for ME3 have occurred already and the unwarranted ending controversy will slow sales.

The trilogy has finished, if Microsoft had any sway over the series they have gotten the sales they wanted and they won't be getting more in vast droves anymore. Developing ME1 for PS3 might boost sales of ME2 and ME3 as well.

Personally I would buy it if it released on ps3 despite already own the full series anyway, and I knwo a few people who would too. I fell the controlls and experience are better. I would say the same for XBOX but thous controllers, there are a terrible shape in you hand, there disign for grip is good but assumes all hands are the same size, which there arnt. Then the PC Mass Effect, well there is more bugs in it that a rainforest, mostly bugs for "your Computer is too advanced".

Ok I'll ask politely:

"Microsoft could you please allow Mass Effect to be released for PS3? You know, the SONY console which is also you competitor? You know...that game that a lot of people BUY your console ONLY for the sole purpose of playing it...thanks mate"

Got the point?

Seriously, I only own an X360 for ME1 and its the only game I play on the 360 . . . that alone says enough
I own both ME2 and 3 on the PS3

It seems to me that when they say "not likely" it can be taken with a grain of salt.

They have said many things will not happen ... ME2 on PS3, MP for ME3 ... just to name a couple, and wham bam we now have it!

It may not happen instantly while they focus on ME3 DLC but if we keep persisting it certainly could happen.

So many people have made great cases for wanting ME1 on PS3 ... if you could kindly share them on our Group Discussion Board that would be a fantastic help Image IPB

So...let me understand...if you play ME1 and save Kirrahe you can have the Salarian on your side on ME3???
That sucks pretty much A LOT.
Are we able to make a list of ALL the features we PS3 owners can't access without ME1?

Not just Captain Kirrahe... but there are other storylines and side quest that can have an effect on ME3.

I found a list here which shows which decisions affect your War Assets

Look at the decisions under Mass Effect 1

**- Don’t attack Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani
- * Help Jenna in Chora’s Den (side-quest)
- *Gather the Asari Matriarch’s materials in the Asari Matriarch Writings Gathering sidequest
- *Buy the Elkoss Combine Licence
- Kill Wrex
- *Save Captain Kirrahe on Virmire (story related)
- *Save the colonists (Zhu's Hope)  (story related)
- *Save Shiala  (story related)
- *Persuade Jeong to have ExoGeni stay on Feros  (story related)
- Save the Rachni Queen
- *Tell Conrad Verner to go home (side-quest)
- Save the Council
- *Play the Bring Down the Sky DLC and let Balak go unharmed (side-quest/story related)

Those marked with a * are not achievable on the PS3 without access to ME1?

** Your first encounter with Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani is on the Citadel in ME2 and when you talk to her she'll mention something that happened in ME1. Unless you know what she is talking about, it would seem rather vague.

Apparently they affect your War Assets in ME3 - to what degree I don't know.

Can you tell I love the series? Image IPB

This is awesome! And I think will be used for my next poster Image IPB

Why would that matter?  Tomb raider rereleased 3 of their games, 2 inhanced from PS2 - PS3.

Well they could always just remake the game for ALL platforms so that way it doesn't feel like an exclusive for PS3.

And Bioware could put Kinect support into the remake so MS won't say sh*t.

Thanks, people, slowly getting there.
And I see people more and more passionate.
I'm glad ^__^

@Cylon King
You have a great point

@megabug
thanks for the passion your putting into the reaserches
what's the other favourite franchise? Metal Gear Solid? ;)

@siansonea
I own the PC copy, it's really cheap but it takes a computer with high specs.
my laptop from 2010 paid 900$ on release can't play it because the graphic card is not supported.

@red_jez
awesome work, thanks for the poster, thanks for facebook and for the group

finally...before this thread I opened one in the ME3 discussion thread

I posted this on the other thread, I posted it again here as a little personal experience

Now I tell you my experience.
I romanced Miranda in ME2
As a newcomer to the franchise...why Tali?
I would have romanced Kasumi but, well, you know.

Anyway...

ME3. Met Miranda in the Citadel
When she asked: "Am I still part of your plan?"
I was: "Hell F'n YEAH!"

Then after a while on the Normandy, Liara cuts all the dialogues with me, telling me to stop playing with her and saying that she knows about MIranda.

I was..."Oh crap. I miss an awful lot of dialogue, next playthrough I'll ditch Miranda"

Next playthrough, met Miranda
"Am I still part of your plan?"
My Shep: "things have a changed"
She started to cry.
I reloaded the past save and said: "to hell Liara!"

I mean, without knowing what happened with Liara in ME1, how it happened, I don't give a flying rat about her.

That's how we PS3 have to face things.
Facing the future without knowing the past.
Our Shepard has a big amnesia.
Why?
Is it right to leave us without such a meaty section of the story?

The answer to that, is no :)

I agree, I will pay for this. I want it. Hell, I will pay for the kickstarter.

Bioware; Do IT, and we shall be very happy. (Aaaaand, you get more moolah :D)
