This makes more sense than the IT theory, thank god.
The best thing is, it would be a awesome plot twist, would still keep the Reapers as well-intentioned extremists, and would still fit with the theme of the whole organics vs synthetics thing.

There is no question. Crucible is only being built to stop the reapers. If reapers want to save life they would not come.
