The Rachni wars kind of throw a cog into this theory, but you can explain it away by saying the Rachni were about to construct their own crucible, and that the Reapers saw fit to exterminate them.

Also, the Reapers not wanting to destroy the Citadel can be explained by it not being necessary to trigger the crucible. Maybe it just needs a sufficiently large energy source, which could be constructed given time.

The Rachni War was almost 2000 years ago, so the games  were pretty thin on the details. If the Rachni were under reaper indoctrination they could have been used to seek out the plans for the Cruicble and destroy them.

I also explained earlier in the thread that Citadel is dangerous to destroy, it is a the largest mass relay, so it will create a very large explosion. Also the Citadel is the only link to dark space.

Who are the Reapers?
The reapers we probably the last creations of the orginal builders of the Crucible, who probably were killed by the Cruicble but somehow stopped it, probably by seprating Catalyst from it. The aliens that build the Crucible died, and realized with the plans of the Crucible would live on, an all organic life following them would find the plans and build their own destruction. Hence why the reaper cycles.

the ending kinda refutes that, as the first civilization created the reapers but were being destoryed by synthetics, w/e happened to the rest i guess because they were at the pinikle of existence i guess they evolved?  >>> starchild etc etc.

so the  "evolved" first civiliztion created the reapers in order to create a solution to the already existing problem and we all know what that rediculous problem is.

the crucible was made from previous races during the first ever cycle and was built up time and time again per cycle till it could be completed i guess.

Could you clarify what you're saying? I'm not really following you?

At the very least, this is an original idea. I still think indoctrination is the best explanation, but this could have been a great twist had it been implemented into the story.

Why wouldn't the reapers tell you this? They have had many opportunities.

This is no joke. This is for reals!

Hey, this theory sits a hell of a lot better with me than taking it all at face value. Maybe the colored explosions do end up killing everyone and the Normandy's crew is dead and in heaven or some BS.

Even deeper, maybe the explosions cause everyone to integrate with the crucible and the planet the Normandy is really an image of what it's like to be part of a reaper-type collective that the crucible is composed of.

Like the they get absorbed into some sort of Matrix like computer constructed reality? That would be crazy! But if they are in "reaper reality" each reaper is only made of one alien species, so only the humans would get out the ship.

No I mean perhaps the crucible is composed similarly to the reapers, but is a much larger collective containing multiple species and generations. That aspect gives it more power, hence why the reapers would fear it.

That makes sense. It explains why all the bodies were being processed on the Cataylst by the Keepers!

I like it! Makes more sense than what we got, would have been truly surprising.
This explains the whispers in the dream sequence, the 'don't trust him' and the 'he lies'. Star-child is the ultimate evil.
Personally, I hated the Crucible. The cliched alien artifact. After Battle Star Galactica I am sooo over that. This is a nice twist on that unimaginative idea.

Can some one make a well edited fancy youtube video for this theory? Then everyone will believe me!

... the funny part is when you realize that this would have been a pretty great plot twist.

And then comes the realization that the Reapers are self-defeating. Would the Crucible have come to existance without them? Probably not. They built the relays, they built the Catalyst, they started the cycles- they drove organics to fight back.
