And this isn't a.... "Oh my gosh... GAY PEOPLE IN MASS EFFECT!! What is the world coming to?" ... thread.

I am just pointing out that in Mass Effect 1 you can only romance Kaidan if you are straight. (I did and was quite happy about it)

In Mass Effect 2 you have a huge selection between Garrus, Thane and Jacob. Hurray!

In Mass Effect 3 Thane dies and Jacob cheats on you. If you didn't romance Garrus in the 2nd one then you can't romance him in this one. (Like if you made the terrible call of choosing Jacob) So that just leaves Kaidan.

I romanced Kaidan so I didn't even realize that happened until someone pointed it out to me but if you are a straight Femshep you've only got two potential LI's really, while Straight Male Shep gets Miranda, Jack, Ashley, Liara, Diana, Tali and kind of Samara but not really.

Although, I guess poor gay Male Shep didn't get any romances until now so I guess I'll just stop complaining.

Being a straight, male Shepard is good times.

Good times, indeed.

What? Samara? You can't even -flirt- with Samara.

In ME3 Hetero ManShep can romance Liara, Tali, Miranda (brief, if you did in ME2), and Jack (brief, no nookie, if you did in ME2).

Homosexual ManShep can Romance Kaiden and Cortez.

Hetero Femshep can Romance Vega, Kaiden, and Garrus (if you did in ME2).

Homosexual Femshep can romance Liara and Traynor.

ManShep and FemShep can both sex the Chobot-o-tron 4000 Reporting Robot

Everyone knows Shepard is male... femsheps are just an 'alternate' universe. Like Revan being female in KOTOR or the Exile being male in KOTOR 2.

Besides... you should be able to romance liara as a woman in ME1... which carries over to ME2 then ME3. Liara is the canon romance of Mass Effect just like Shepard is male and the DESTROY ending.

Yes, it does seem that Male Shep gets all the loving. I hate what they did with the LI's on both Shep's, it seems if you didn't stick to one of the LI's that featured in the 1st game, it all seems forced and without true feeling. Don't get me wrong, Traynor & Cortez are sweet, but there isn't that connection you have like with Garrus, Tali & Liara. Ash & Kaidan annoy me slightly because, truthfully I wouldn't just be alright with how things were left in ME2, so I felt like there wasn't enough choice regarding making them "pay"more for their betrayal.

Pfft.. and according to Ash & Kaidan, you "cheated" on them.

Enough said.

It's true.  Save for how bad I felt when I ultimately ended up choosing Tali over Liara.  Curse my inability to choose!

And we can't forget Morinth.  Death by snu snu is a great way to go.

Vega isn't romanceable, you flirt with him alot but they either got lazy and didn't add it in, or FemShep just teases him a lot

I never wanted Vega but I was sad for all the people out there who I know did. It was pretty mean to include him and not make him romance able. And I thought you could kiss Samara or something similar. I never did it but I heard that you could but it didn't progress farther.

Whaaa?

They put Freddy Prince Jr. Beefcake in the game and then don't let you make sexytimes with him?

WTF is up with that, did the character have a purpose besides that?

Can't choose anyone over Liara, not even Miranda. It would breaks my poor, 20-year-old heart.

...and I agree. I'd much rather go like that than what happens to me in ME3's ending.

We need a BroShep thread in the character/romance forum, unless there already is one. We need a place to go, too. B)

He talks about a lot of the events from the previous games, he was put in for new players.

To be fair, "straight male" kinda summarizes the game's target demographic. And the rest of the male squad mates are either incredibly bland or... well... monsters.

Winner.

The majority of the gaming demographic will always be the straight male. It's just facts. It'll never change.

Well… strictly speaking, she has boobs. Me, I love boobs, and if I’d liked her better, might’ve had my Shep romance her.

But if Liara had a schlong instead of boobs, would most straight guys have wanted to romance her even if it was said that she’s not really ‘male’ in spite of said schlong?

technically romancing Liara isnt a homosexual option with it being mono gendered depending on your view.

but that is the debate i suppose.

Yeah everything but that last part is spot on.
