Everyone's gay for Garrus.
Oddly, I was never interested in Garrus. He feels like a brother. Am I the only person who felt that way?

So, Straight Femshep kinda gets screwed over

No. He was my Shepard's best friend. I took Kaidan on all of my runs in ME1, and Garrus took over the gunner role after Ash. Garrus was on ALL of my missions in ME2. In ME3, I actually agonized on whether I was going to take Kaidan (my LI) and Garrus with me on the possibility they might die. I thought it would be like the suicide run in ME2. I decided that there was no one I'd rather go into hell with than my best friend and my LI who have been with me since the beginning. We were going to live or die together. RAWR!Ashilana wrote...

Everyone knows Shepard is male... femsheps are just an 'alternate' universe. Like Revan being female in KOTOR or the Exile being male in KOTOR 2.
Besides... you should be able to romance liara as a woman in ME1... which carries over to ME2 then ME3. Liara is the canon romance of Mass Effect just like Shepard is male and the DESTROY ending.

There is no canon in Mass Effect. You can't compare it to Kotor and Kotor 2 since they do have their canon characters. Not in Mass Effect. There is "default", as the male Shepard that has Ashley as a LI (used in the trailers for example) but there is no canon.

I romanced Garrus on my first ME2 playthrough, before being faithful to Liara in my second. To be honest, the thought of another ME2 playthrough to set up a relationship with him for ME3... is traumatising. (A couple of dozen ME1 finishes, half a dozen ME2 completions... ugh!)

No. But, I never had interest in any of the aliens. Garrus was more like a brother.Ashilana wrote...

By the way, anyone else found the Shep conversation with Jacob strange? I never romanced him and every time I talked to him, especially on the Citadel, there were long pauses where the two just stared it each other as if they either thought about something to say but didn't or had nothing more to say. The conversation felt strangely forced.

Do you mean the ME2 conversation? That's not the one, although I of course avoided it at all costs
But ME3 conversation was off as well, as if my Shep was contemplating something every time she spoke to him. I guess the writers never got poor Jacob rightShame, it was a wasted potential.

Oh yes! In ME3, Jacob seemed hesitant and uncomfortable telling Shepard about his new relationship, which was weird to me because I didn't romance him. Then he came out with it, and I thought, "Why was he saying it like he thought I might get hurt or jealous? I've got Kaidan's toothbrush in my captain's cabin."
It makes sense in the context that he says the exact same thing to a former LI Shepard. I wouldn't want to tell her either. Pretty darn crappy.

@OP straight Femshep got very screwed over, at least Manshep didn't have to witness one LI die, and have another cheat on him.
