Everyone's gay for Garrus.

Oddly, I was never interested in Garrus.  He feels like a brother.  Am I the only person who felt that way?

No.  He was my Shepard's best friend.  I took Kaidan on all of my runs in ME1, and Garrus took over the gunner role after Ash.  Garrus was on ALL of my missions in ME2.  In ME3, I actually agonized on whether I was going to take Kaidan (my LI) and Garrus with me on the possibility they might die.  I thought it would be like the suicide run in ME2.  I decided that there was no one I'd rather go into hell with than my best friend and my LI who have been with me since the beginning.  We were going to live or die together.  RAWR!

Turns out I put a lot more thought into whether I should take them then necessary.  rawr?

Thread title:

So, Straight Femshep kinda gets screwed over

Or... she doesn't get screwed, as is the point.

I'm sorry. But it had to be done.

I think a lot of players put more thought into their choices going into the ending... than was actually put into the ending.

It depended on how I developed FemShep. Some times he felt more "brother" / "best friend" like others he felt more LI like. I don't know if it was my emotions at the time or the actions that Shepard took.

Everyone knows Shepard is male... femsheps are just an 'alternate' universe. Like Revan being female in KOTOR or the Exile being male in KOTOR 2.

Besides... you should be able to romance liara as a woman in ME1... which carries over to ME2 then ME3. Liara is the canon romance of Mass Effect just like Shepard is male and the DESTROY ending.

There is no canon in Mass Effect. You can't compare it to Kotor and Kotor 2 since they do have their canon characters. Not in Mass Effect. There is "default", as the male Shepard that has Ashley as a LI (used in the trailers for example) but there is no canon.

I romanced Garrus on my first ME2 playthrough, before being faithful to Liara in my second. To be honest, the thought of another ME2 playthrough to set up a relationship with him for ME3... is traumatising. (A couple of dozen ME1 finishes, half a dozen ME2 completions... ugh!)

I'm still in a state of shock that whoever were the writers in charge of the Citadel / Thane forgot that Thane was a LI, considering he was actively designed to be a LI for FemShep.

That and the particularly vicious (at least thats how it came across to me) Take That to the ME fans that wanted Joker as a LI when you try to pick him up in Purgatory. Joker quoting regs as his reason for disinterest sits really uncomfortably after how happy he was having ditched the Alliance in ME2.

On the subject of Joker and EDI, the conversation you can overhear when Mordin is on the ship is priceless. Apparently she has some functionality. It still gets the point for one of the funniest scenes just for when Mordin is giving advice to Joker, while looking directly at you as he tells Joker that he won't tell you, and gets the response "She's standing right there, isn't she?"

Pretty sure Sheridan was being sarcastic.

You can always load one of your old save at a point prior to LI lock in and change it. Only have to play about 1/4 of the game then.

No. But, I never had interest in any of the aliens. Garrus was more like a brother.

There should be four Mass Effect movies simultaneously, one for straight male shep, one straight female, one gay shep and one lesbian.

Then make all the scenes of Shepard never being in the same frame with other characters except for scenes spliced together in the main story according to love interests to keep production costs low. Think of the money! Maybe it'll end up being disastrously successful because people with a compulsive tendency to complete everything might catch it at least four times.

Better yet make it so that when a movie-goer goes into the cinema they don't know which version they'll be watching until they're in... it'll be like buying packs in multiplayer. Lawlllll.

I am so with you on this. My poor Shep was stuck with Kaidan. Not that I mind, but some diversity would have been good.
I wished to romance Vega, but we all know how it went. And I never finished the Garrus as LI playthrough because he is too... alien, I don't know. I still prefer normal men. Hell, even Thane was easier in that sense. Garrus is awesome but he is a brother.

By the way, anyone else found the Shep conversation with Jacob strange? I never romanced him and every time I talked to him, especially on the Citadel, there were long pauses where the two just stared it each other as if they either thought about something to say but didn't or had nothing more to say. The conversation felt strangely forced.

Yes, I agree.  This is one reason why I was put off on Jacob to begin with.  I'm like, "Get a hold of yourself there, Shepard!"

Do you mean the ME2 conversation? That's not the one, although I of course avoided it at all costs :)
But ME3 conversation was off as well, as if my Shep was contemplating something every time she spoke to him. I guess the writers never got poor Jacob right :) Shame, it was a wasted potential.

Oh yes!  In ME3, Jacob seemed hesitant and uncomfortable telling Shepard about his new relationship, which was weird to me because I didn't romance him.  Then he came out with it, and I thought, "Why was he saying it like he thought I might get hurt or jealous?  I've got Kaidan's toothbrush in my captain's cabin."

It makes sense in the context that he says the exact same thing to a former LI Shepard.  I wouldn't want to tell her either.  Pretty darn crappy.

Exactly! Same here, I was faithful to Kaidan since ME1, so when I met Jacob in ME3 I was like  What's wrong with you, dude?
After that conversation I actually went and watched videos on Youtube with romanced Shep to understand what the hell was wrong with him. Then I got it.
I feel sorry for people that romanced Jacob and Thane, they both got it really bad.

And don't even get me started on Allers and Traynor. <_< I like Traynor enough, but she is a girl and a good crew member, nothing more. And Allers... yeah

Yeah my sister was pretty mad about all this. Basically if your straight femshep and not into aliens, Kaiden is your only choice. When she learn manshep could romance Kaiden as well she told me; "bah you could tell in ME1 he was kind of gay but to actually go with it and not add a straight romance in ME3 is just absurd straight girls play there games too"

I hope Bioware is reading this) Give us a Vega-LI DLC, damnit! After you fix the endings of course.
I think I've reached a point where I would buy anything Bioware produces for ME. They could have my entire monthly salary for all I care.

Not exactly true. If you don't do the Grissom Academy in time Jack turns into a Phantom and you have to shoot her.

Yup, but with femshep essentially being Zap Brannigan with bigger balls I don't really care

I mean yay, lets all support gender equality!!!

I did two years of nursing, that **** ain't gonna fly ****, get back to the kitchen

Jokes! Jokes! well aside from doing two years of nursing... t'was and interesting sociological experience "Oh, we want equality, and more money, now that there are more male nurses we might get that. QUIET MAN, STAY AT THE BACK OF THE LECTURE HALL WHERE YOU BELONG!"

What was this thread about... oh yeah!

ummm... Hey I'd be down with some Seth Green action... I would actually turn gay for that guy, so he'd easily make blue banging Femshep turn straight if he was game. Yeah, Liara doesn't really count, if Kaden died and you didn't do Garrus you are **** outta luck as far as traditional relationships go. I mean really!?! Jack's still available but Jacob isn't? K, the Prize wasn't good enough I guess.

Someone in planing dropped the ball on Femshep

but yeah... those two years of nursing weren't all bad, hehehe, THE PRIZE!

I guess that FemShep has more of a 10/10 or 0/10 kind of deal with her men. Kaidan is a great LI, with really good story-content and I really liked how he talked with people aboard the Normandy. Have not romanced Garrus yet, but from what I have read that seems to be a pretty great romance as well. Now Ash who is exclusive to BroShep doesn't seem to move around the ship as much, or talk to people as often as Kaidan from what I have been reading here. Has anyone romanced both Ash and Kaidan? How does it compare? I would have loved to continue with Jacob, and start one for Thane, but I also see that Kaidan and Garrus were really really great. Don't know how the content Garrus and Kaidan get compare to the coverage of BroShep's LI:s.
