@OP straight Femshep got very screwed over, at least Manshep didn't have to witness one LI die, and have another cheat on him.

Not exactly true. If you don't do the Grissom Academy in time Jack turns into a Phantom and you have to shoot her.

The difference is that miri and jack's deaths are optional ones. Jacob cheats and Thane dies and there's nothing you can do about it, choices are for boys apparently.

While I like both Garrus and Kaidan, as a straight female gamer I agree with you. My Jacob and Thane-mancing Sheps are ticked off. They're going to have to switch gears fast or stay lonesome. Which sucks even more considering that Shep is doomed to death or eternal loneliness anyway. Good times indeed.

You know what makes the neglect more obvious? Kelly chambers gets a paramour achievemnet while both Thane and Jacob don't (well for Jacob it's less surprising). Someone even told me Thane isn't even mentioned in the codex or as a romance in the guide. They REALLY didn't give a  **** did they?

Thane is such an intriguing character, too. They could have done so much more than just freaking kill him. They could have had you go on a mission to find a cure for him. What's amazing is that they didn't have 'time' to bother giving us a chance to save him, but they had plenty of time to put rubber-dress Allers on your ship. Yay.

Completely agree. Although after ME3 I thought Thane's overall presentation was awesome nonetheless and is death scene was so heart-breaking that I nearly got my Shep to romance him. Jacob in ME3 on the other hand put me off the man completely, that stunt completely solidified my dislike of him. They were handled really badly indeed.
I wished Thane had the cure (he is awesome and badass), but for me it always seemed too much in the realm of fairy-tale for this game.

Not only that, if the problem is his blood not transferring oxygen well enough, why not just replace it with artificial blood? Problem solved.

That was the bit that really got to me about Thane.   I was prepared for him dying, I wasn't prepared for it not to count.

I'd have also liked to be able to do a bit of follow-up with his son, too.  Make sure he'd be all right, for his father's sake.

I think this is one of the reasons why I resent Allers.  I look at her and wonder why they invested the time in writing content for her, when more detail was needed on existing storylines.

I'm disappointed to hear that Thane's romance didn't get proper acknowledgement. I didn't romance him, but I thought his heroic death was very well done. I assumed it would have been even more deep if you romanced him, and am shocked and disappointed it was a missed opportunity.

Yup , wasted potential. Considering how much research and feedback went into the creation of Thane in the first place. I think what grates me the most is that the people in charge of writing him just did not CARE about his character. Or were even bothered to do a bit of homework first (or else they wouldn't have "forgotten" he was a LI). The way he behaved made sense for sheps who didn't romance him but for those that did it was completely inconsistent and out of character. A romanced thane should have continued to act differently to an un-romanced one and an additional choice should have been available to shepards who chose him as a love interest.

Yes, very true. I'm a female of the bisexual persusion myself, so I don't mind - but I don't have any straight female friends who would even vaguely consider romancing a character like Liara in a game. Yes, girls don't have the same issues with boobs that guys have with other guys' junk, but that doesn't mean they find it attractive, either :)

I wouldn't mind that...

And people seems to be confused about Asari in general. Monogendered = one gender.  They are ALL female. They reproduce through parthenogenesis. However hot the idea of an Asari with an extra may seem to a few people, that would make no sense, considering Asari can't get others pregnant, only themselves by randomizing a second copy of their DNA to avoid having a perfect clone

Bam. I ain't even mad.

No, seriously, my heart goes out to straight FemSheps who went with Thane or the pri...er Jacob. Dick move on Beedubs' part. Ladybro gamers and gaybro gamers are making headway in the industry but this goes to show we've got a loooong way to go to fair representation (inb4 "STFU U GOT FEMSHEP TRAILORZ") They seriously should have at least given us Vega since they were so intent on giving Joker a sexbot...

Yeah... I can get behind that, my poor little sis thought she was in a relationship with Vega [she romanced Thane in ME2] I had to break it to her that NO ONE can romance Vega...

Cuz, he's a priest. [Seriously, why is he not romancable? ]

Probably because his wife was sitting in on the voice sessions with her favorite weapon, just in case....

Because of the hinting that there might be a cure or treatment options for him I wasn't really expecting him to die.  After romancing him, he had such a different outlook about his life and where he wanted it to go.  With that, I didn't think there would be any reason to mention the medigel and lung transplant stuff unless they were planning on using it.  I knew they weren't full on cures, so I had prepared for the idea that Thane *may* die but I wasn't really expecting it to take place during the game.  I certainly wasn't really prepared for it to happen so early and so casually.  No paramour achievement, not even an "I love you"?  I had so many problems with the way a romance was handled.

Yeah my sister was pretty mad about all this. Basically if your straight femshep and not into aliens, Kaiden is your only choice. When she learn manshep could romance Kaiden as well she told me; "bah you could tell in ME1 he was kind of gay but to actually go with it and not add a straight romance in ME3 is just absurd straight girls play there games too"

What? I've seen absolutely no reference to Kaiden being romancable by either sex in ME3, except youtube vids which are unreliable. I trust the Prima guide more than I trust TouTube.

As for Femshep, there's also Samantha Traynor, who is such a step up from Kelly, and just a fun geeky gamer girl even just to have a friendship with.

I loved Garrus' romance, and I think it was one of the best bioware has done. I'd probably never romance anyone else. But even with that- the lack of continuance with Femshep's other romances is buuulllshiiiiittttttt. I'm all for a cheating subplot, but where's the manshep variant? Why did two of Femshep's straight romances just...vanish?

I am glad they added new s/s options, as they were sorely lacking. But saying Femshep should just be happy with all the f/f options is just silly. I'm not usually the sort to throw this line around, but: they'd never pull that with Manshep.

I just HOPE the decision wasn't made out of some sort of notion that straight women tend to fixate on the Team Jacob vs Team Edward mentality. Most fangirls preferred Garrus or Kaidan. Why do anything else with the others?

[Nevermind the fact that Garrus and Samantha are the only exclusive Femshep options, while Manshep has five.]

No, I missed a word. I meant to say "male sex" not either sex, and I'm willing to trust the Prima Guide a lot more than I trust YouTube which can be edited by anyone...

As for Traynor, yes, she's romancable.... ask her up for game night and a shower...

Quite. I have to admit that I was near on drooling when he was doing pull-ups at the beginning of the game. When they have that sparring match in the beginning I was thinking of how nice it would be to have them spar later in the game only to have him flip her or vice versa with a lead-in to a kiss. Somehow they made a very sexy dude and then left him hanging on the coatrack. Not cool:pinched:

AGREED x 10000000000

You get the option for everyone else to save them, and we didn't even get to prolong his life through a transplant, or go get a cure and obtain hanar/drell war assets!  So much they could have done with Thane.  He was character of the year for goodness sake.  Yeesh.

Poor poor FemShep.  Just left to weep in Life Support or rage in the old armory.:(

Not sure if you'll ever see this, but yes you can romance Kaidan with Sheploo. It's official and really sweet as well. I never got the Prima Guide so I don't know why they wouldn't include it, but trust me when I say that it's possible and made many a person within the Kaidan fandom rejoice.
