Well… strictly speaking, she has boobs. Me, I love boobs, and if I’d liked her better, might’ve had my Shep romance her.
But if Liara had a schlong instead of boobs, would most straight guys have wanted to romance her even if it was said that she’s not really ‘male’ in spite of said schlong?
You mean she doesn't have a schlong?

Which of these can be romanced solely in ME3 by straight ManShep? I'm guessing Ashley, Liara, and Diana all can be. I'm guessing that Tali is like Garrus and requires an ME2 import, and I can't imagine you can romance Jack or Miranda without an import.
So a non-imported straight MShep gets, what, like one extra choice? Diana doesn't really count because (a) she sucks as a character and the people romancing her must just be doing it for the lulz, and (
Eh, I guess straight FemShep gets a little screwed over. But counterpoint: imported Garrus romance is an option so that pretty much makes up for everything!

Well... I guess we can't know for sure. Just saying, the bits and pieces we get to see of Liara would likely not appeal to a straight Femshep, hehe.

It's true. Save for how bad I felt when I ultimately ended up choosing Tali over Liara. Curse my inability to choose!
And we can't forget Morinth. Death by snu snu is a great way to go.
I've witnessed that snu snu. It didn't really look like fun at all.

Well, I think we can all agree that we all love boobs.
Also, that's extremely doubtful that any StraightMaleShepards would approach her if she did, indeed, have man parts. I was just saying, she's still a viable option for a Femshep and not mentioned. She's definitely a good romance option in ME3 (I couldn't stand her in ME1), if all Femsheps are good with boobs.

Although I gotta say I love that they included Gay only romances and romances that bite you in the ass (like Jacobs) but that's for another thread.

Well, I think the OP was calling out for straight options in particular, in which case Liara is a somewhat iffy option.
Not complaining about Liara myself; my Shep is as open-minded as I am in that regard… but she isn’t exactly a viable romance option for a straight Femshep.

Everyone knows Shepard is male... femsheps are just an 'alternate' universe. Like Revan being female in KOTOR or the Exile being male in KOTOR 2.
Besides... you should be able to romance liara as a woman in ME1... which carries over to ME2 then ME3. Liara is the canon romance of Mass Effect just like Shepard is maleand the DESTROY ending.
Nah man he's right on all accounts. The destroy is canon because Shepard lives and the reapers are dead. Everyone wins! Come to the dark side Kinshin. You know you want to. LOL

I don't think that anyone is getting screwed over. Honestly, i'd rather BioWare create an interesting stable of characters that slot into the narrative in interestng ways, and then worry about who should be romanceable after.
If they go into a game and say "yes, we're going to make sure that all genders and sexual preferences are going to have the same amount of options" it would result in less interesting characters and relationships.
