I honestly didn’t really feel any of the romantic interests were that appealing for my Femshep.

I like Kaidan well enough, but I didn’t find anything to be that special about him. I loved Alistair in Dragon Age, though, but for me, Kaiden lacked that little extra bit of personality.

As for Garrus – Garrus is, bar none, the coolest guy in the whole series. But a romantic interest? I prefer him as Shep’s best pal, together to the end. It seemed an epic friendship.

The only character I ever really, really wanted her to romance was… Jack. Ahh. I love Jack.

[Edit] Forgot to say - Thane was awesome, too. Just... I don't know, a bit too weird-looking. But that voice!

Look, I'm not interested in having an in-depth discussion about character personalities, preferences and my feelings on them at 3 a.m.. I'll just say that I felt Kaidan was an incredibly boring character and I felt it as soon as spoke to him on Mass Effect.

People are entitled (uh oh, that's a no-no word) to feel how they want about a certain character, but I am also. Plus, I'm just having fun with the "he should always die" remark. You're taking this a little too seriously, Made Nightwing.

People are entitled to feel how they want about a certain character, and they are also entitled to feel that way without being mocked or criticised.

I don't take anything seriously. That's why I enjoy internet forums.

Did you see the endings? The lucky ones died first.

Thane's LOLing in heaven while you jumped into the beam.

I did think it was kind of weird that Vega wasn't a LI for femshep. I thought their flirting was really cute. I think the biggest crime of the series though is that Femshep can't get with Joker. A *lot* of people really wanted to see that one play out. Heck, I would have done another full run just to set that up.

First, Nassegris, your avatar is gorgeous.

Second, agree with jellobell. Straight female Shepards do rather well in the romance department because GARRUS. He's hands down (imo, obviously) the best romance, the best bromance, the best character in the entire series, and I honestly struggle to romance anyone else. That said, it could have been good for the single FemSheps had Vega been a proper romance option rather than just a bit of light flirting ..

Thirdly, a question (slightly OT) I have a ME2 save with a FemShep who romanced Liara in ME1, slept with Thane in ME2, but got back together with Liara during LotSB (don't think I officially broke up with Thane, though). Which of these does ME3 think I'm romancing? And does anyone know if I can romance thane until he dies (don't want to make the poor guy feel worse) and then get back with Liara afterwards?

Last, please don't mention the Kelly 'romance' again. Just thinking about her dancing around while Shep stares like a dead-eyed psychopath is almost enough to put me off real-life romance, let alone in-game ones ... :P

There is no Shepard without Vakarian, He's Chewie to my Hann, Dargo to my Crichton, The beer chaser to my shot of whiskey.

Garrus is bar none the baddest ass friend an epic space hero could ask for.

AllThatJazz - thank you kindly. That's my Jinx; had to remake her face for ME3 but it turned out all right :)

And I'll just agree with all the Garrus-love. He's a spectacular character. I just never saw a spark between him and my Shep, for whatever reason, not romantic anyway. The scene with the two of them, as friends, on top of the Citadel... sigh... it was so touching. I wanted to reach in and give him a real hug.

He's got that quality that reminds me of some of the best 'best friends' we've seen in fantasy and science fiction. Not sure if I've run into any character quite like him in games, ever. Awesome voice acting, too.

Yeah. I guess it's all personal opinion, but I've always been a sucker for romances between characters that start out as really great friends and then develop into something more. You just know that Garrus is there for you, no matter what, which is the sexiest thing ever imo.

Friendship or romance the Garrus relationship is awesome. Perhaps because you're locked out of the romance without a ME2 Garrusmance import his friendship path works in a way Kaidan and Liara's doesn't.

Anyway OT Vegas and/or Joker should really have been an option for FemShep as it's so easy to have no romance options in 3.

But Shepard isn't an epic hero, they're a tragic hero. That was quite clearly retconned in in the last ten minutes of the trilogy.

Mmm. I realised, during the scene on the Citadel that, regardless of how renegade my Shepard is, I will never be able to take the shot. Just like I'll never kill Wrex.  Sigh. And yes, the very best thing about Garrus is that he always has your six, regardless of the situation. Even in ME2, alien characters could (should, even) have been so mistrustful of Shep working with Cerberus, but Garrus just knew that Shep was still on the level. Such a good friendship. Plus Brandon Keener's voice - sex on a stick!

I had my eyes on Kaidan ever since ME1 so I didn't really notice, but you have a point.

That said, Miranda and Jack romances aren't very satisfying in ME3 as I gathered. They're almost non existant.

No. He should not. His survival should depend on your preferences, personality and reasoning. Not even a major Kaidan fan, but general statements like that are a tad thoughtless towards those that are.

If you prefer Kaidan's personality, you obviously enjoy napping.

Are you implying that Kaidan is boring to the point of putting someone to sleep?

Im totally in agreement with the OP Im just pointing this out.

Liara can be a "Straight Femshep Romance" Asari Pheromones can attract normally straight women and normally gay men. Those Gay Men and Straight Women still would have their normal sexual preferances when Asari are not around, and would not suddenly become sexual attracted to genders of their own species they normally wouldn't be attracted to.

I also want to point out that Kaiden was vocally intoloerant of Femsheps reletionship with Liara in Me1 if you go the Love Triangle route. He pretty much says "But Shep, shes another woman for Godsake!" Now he's suddenly Bi... hmm.

One of my Straight Femsheps (Who romanced Thane) is just gonna stay single after her lover dies. Kaiden dosent make sense to her character because shes by the books military. She was attracted to Kaiden in ME1 and didnt romance him due to regs, shes not gonna start breaking regs now.

Everyone knows Shepard is male... femsheps are just an 'alternate' universe. Like Revan being female in KOTOR or the Exile being male in KOTOR 2.

Besides... you should be able to romance liara as a woman in ME1... which carries over to ME2 then ME3. Liara is the canon romance of Mass Effect just like Shepard is male and the DESTROY ending.

That's exactly why Shepard will be a female in the movie, right?

Default Shepherd has always been male.

The story is really built around a male character.

Just because they give you an option to be a female, doesn't mean they have to bend over backwards for you.  They try and throw you enough bones, no pun intended, to keep you happy, but don't expect near the level of options their original design was centered around.

Dragon Age didn't leave the hetero female romances out in the cold. There was enough variety and personalities to pick what you wanted. I tried out several different romances with different characters. In ME...well...Kaidan is the only one I pick. Garrus is my best guy friend that I just don't see 'that way'. I considered a playthrough with Jacob, but knowing how it turns out in ME3, that's not ever going to happen. Thane...I don't know. His death scene was soul crushing enough, I don't know if I'm strong enough to put it in the context of a dying lover. Ugh...I think my soul just crushed a little thinking about it. Vega I thought would be a new LI for Shepard, but he's just a tease.

So...Kaidan it is.

On my first playthrough of the series, I was a femshep. Kaiden doesn't make it off Virmire (and he never will). In ME1 I romanced Liara out of curiosity. Then in ME2, I romanced Jacob. Yes, I know. Cardboard is more interesting than he is. But Garrus is my bff, and Thane was dying. So that left Jacob. Then in 3, I consistently flirted with James and turned Liara down so that I could see who else I would romance and to see what would happen with Jacob. Then I find out Jacob cheated on me. What a...jerk. So then I think that I'll just romance James. OH WAIT. I can't. So then my poor femshep was all alone. Liara come back to meeeeeee. Let's just say I'm sticking with Liara on my NG+.

And why not? The developers of DA:O handled the romance options perfectly in terms of balance. Why the hell not in ME?

Apparently you have default confused with canon.
