Why does EA get so much hate?

Improper funding and stupid time constraints and greed. Greed! Just look at all the DLC that came out for Bioware games when EA took over.
Mass Effect 1? Two DLC.
Mass Effect 2? About 12 DLC and a 15 dollar online pass.

If it was EA that told BioWare to expand ME to PC then great; 1 good thing from EA, if it wasn't EA then I'll remain quiet as this thread could get ugly!

They've been pissing gamers off and shutting down and remaking beloved franchises since September 1992, and we hate them for it.

I used to dislike EA before it was cool
But jokes aside, if you disagree, give me one example that proves me wrong. I bet you cant.

Been playing it since Fifa 97, but thanks for quick judgement
My brother is a professional soccer player (or football, as it should be called), even he thinks it's complete rubbish, and we play it on World class level or above. The player impact engine and way the referee reacts to it on that level is simply shoddy programming. The AI simply punishes the player for correct beahviour and let's the ai opponent get away with everything: Lazyness on EA's part.

If you look at EA's history, they've been trying to break away from the évil' role they have. Not that many years ago, they allowed developers to create innovative and new games. In that period games like Need for Speed Pro Street (quite a nice 'hardcore' race game) and Mirror's Edge were created. If you look at the latest Need for Speed's, they are all cheap rif-off of the Fast and Furious movies and have nothing to do with actual driving. It's all back to the 'let's steal some money from the mainstream gamers' crap.

Bethesda and Obsidian is another good example.

There are many reasons, of the top of my head:
rushed games
running good studios into the ground
releasing the same game every year with a different number at the end
DRM
bloatware
digital "collectors" editions
online passes
day 1 dlc
pre order dlc
overpriced dlc
supporting the dlc craze
DLC gets priority over game patches
online passes are a bad thing?
they come with the cd you purchased so its kinda free
unless you bought a used cd, and if its a used cd then its their right to gget something out of you to get to play online.
besides all game have passes now

Well....I think PES is the 'Japanese' way of seeing things: Everything needs to be epic, spectacular and cool. So in a PES match, you will hit the crossbar 6 times and games will end in 7-4 or stuff like that. Football doesn't work that way.
I did play the last PES demo and it did look cool. But I can't judge it, since I haven't played it that much. If the AI isn't made by EA, I might give it a go.
You think it's better then FIFA?

On the other side of the debate, of course, you have muggles/EA apologists blissfully unaware of the days when Origin and Steam were optional contentent delivery systems rather than mandatory things forced on the customer.
The approach is fundamentally wrong - "if you outlaw encryption, only outlaws will have encryption"
Of course I would love to see clients being optional but I know that it's not the case, so I choose Origin because it's less annoying.

Because these kiddies think raging against the big bad corporation makes them cool.
Corporations are not people, they're not good or bad, they're soulless, their only function is "turning a dollar into a dollar and ten" (to paraphrase Don Draper) and they will do everything in their power to do it. Public perception is fundamental to keep corporations in check, they care about it probably more than they care about the law, even. Always be wary. It's not that they're actively trying to screw you over, it's more that if they have to do it to turn up a cent more they'll do it without remorse. EA is no different, anyone thinking otherwise is just naive.

but there is lots of reasons why EA suck and they are pretty much all legitimate
the fact that me and my brother must pay extra if we both want to play battlefield is the most recent example for me luckily it came with my bros replacement ps3 so it wasnt a huge loss when it got traded in
edit: actualy the m most recent thing is the fact that origin is installed on my pc

Because people can't get over things that happened years ago that were caused by a while different regime than the one who is in charge now.
Or perhaps a bit of jelousy that the current CEO John Riccitiello has been playing video games longer than them and knows more about games than they will ever know.
Couple all that with the fact they think they know better than anyone in the industry and burn with rage that their genius has not yet been employed in the video games industry.

Bioware has been there since the early 90's and almost EVERY rpg there is got it's inspiration from Bioware's games. You have to understand, pre-EA, Bioware would always make a 'game of the year' or some other insanely inspiring and genre-defining game.
They basically single handedly revived Lucasarts with Kotor, revived hardcore rpg-ing with Dragon Age.
Since they've been with EA, it all went downhill. You need to see it in context: Bioware is a great company, but things have changed. Rushed games (DA2), shoddy programming (FIFA and other sport games), cheap rip-offs (Need for Speed series) are an EA thing, not a Bioware thing. Same with all the DLC controversies: It's the EA way to do things.
to see DA2 after DA:O was like omg what ******* **** is this?
EA just killed NFS games as well.
So in general EA have a lot of fails, and most recent one is SWTOR. If you add bioware's dialogue thing to wow, it's still a wow.

December 20th last year, EA pretty much SCAMMED the players of the game.
Items people had bought with microtransactions that were supposed to be permanent, were taken away from them without proper compensation.
