The suggestion, if Goblin's comment was aimed at me, was that even a dumb person could see why others wouldn't have liked the ending. The implication is that I'm thicker than dumb because I said 'But reading the article about 5 reasons, I can see why fans feel let down by it', as if I could comprehend it only then.

I think the best example I can think of in recent times would be the Star Wars debacle after the prequel trilogy was released. There are not just two camps here, in simple terms there are liked it or didn't like it. But the reasons vary. For me the ending fitted in well with the story I played, and featured elements that pertained strongly to the philosophical under pinnings. For others that clearly wasn't the case, and seems to have deviated strongly from what they should have experienced.

I'm curious.

For those that are happy with everything, and believe the game meet all the expectations ..

Can you defend any of these claims?

The very first claim in the video isn't quite true. The assets needed to see Shepard breathe after the destroy ending can be obtained with the SP campaign+the Datapad app or ME: Infiltrator. Outside of that, Multiplayer would be required. I get that people really want to find misinformation and whatnot at this point, but this should be a pretty obvious one to correct.

The rest of the video, on the other hand, speaks for itself.

Honestly, Totec, I don't know. My best working theory is that they wanted Mass Effect to be a dating sim, which it isn't, so your comment about dry-humping Tali is both hilarious and astute.

The other theory is that people just haven't thought through the implications of the eventual evolution of humanity to make us resemble AI, but that would only explain confusion and not seething rage.

It's because in the end they didn't get the girl/guy.

Good for you if you enjoy it OP. Now instead of making a thread with a stupid title asking why people don't, click on any of the 100000 threads on the topic and use your reading skills.

I enjoy how the kids raised on Final Fantasy 7 and later games from the playstation era onwards have been taught that terrible writing without explaining is artful. The more plot-holes and unexplained bits the better, right, because that makes it thought-provoking. XD

Something along this line.

I espcially like the artful 'buy moar DLC' as well

First of all, I am really happy that you enjoyed the ending and I can only hope whatever extra content Bioware releases will make the rest of us feel satisfied with the ending as well.
I wonder is some part of it had to do with you bracing yourself for a bad ending, maybe that made your experience different. Meanwhile, I had not read anything yet when I beat the game and was expecting an epic ending.
Sounds like you do not agree with indoctrination theory. I do, but if I were to take the ending at face value for a sec so we are both on same page, well that leaves me with a lot of questions. Why don't the mass relays exploding don't blow up their systems, like in Arrival? Or do they, but we just don't see it? So is everyone dead then? Or are they alive, and stranded on earth? How will they get back? How did my teammate from London get to the normandy so quick and escape with Joker? What is this planet they are stranded on, and do we ever get to reunite? Is Shepard alive, or is that a last breath?
So if I take the ending face value, I guess that just leaves me utterly confused.
If I follow indoctrination theory, that answers a lot of those for me, but also makes for an incredibly depressing ending. Because the way I see it, if you give in to indoctrination you die, if you resist with Destroy, you take a breath in the rubble of London where you fell before having this dream. And while I feel hope that in this instance Shep is perhaps alive and can get back up to stop the reapers for real not just in his/her mind, I guess the chances of that are rather unlikely. Because after all the game ends here, and unless they release content that says otherwise it is likely that in this scenario Shep is also dead and reapers win.
So my grudge with this ending is that nothing I did in the game mattered, I never had a chance to beat the reapers. It is also pretty depressing to think of them winning. Maybe I just take this game too seriously, but I really felt a part of that universe, and that makes it hurt that much worse to know it is all gone. I am not saying they should have a fairytale ending, but just have several endings, and maybe in one of them you can win. It would make for a more satisfying experience for me. And I am all for multiple endings so that more people can experience the ending they desire.

The trend seems to go:

Anti-enders (either Retake specifically, or otherwise): "Let's talk about the ending."

Anti-anti-enders (not necessarily pro-enders, but the people who seem dedicated to living in denial of the ending backlash): "Let's talk about the people who don't like the ending."

The tactic of the "Ending Defense Force" regulars here and in the overall videogame media is to turn the discussion from the actual issue into some more general, ad hominem and guilt by association-laced flame war (with some purely theoretical slippery slope fallacies and disingenuous debates about "art" thrown in for good measure) in order to distract and defame people who have legitimate issues with the ending. They want to keep you focused solely on having to defend and justify your existence, and a lot of you fall for it every time.

If I wanted artful I woulda bought a lapdance from a hippie with toe rings.

TAKE EARTH BACK doesn't exactly scream, "Oh boy do we have some existensialism lined up for you, boyo!"

Correction, to be fair:

Anti-enders (either Retake specifically, or otherwise): "Let's talk about the ending and the people who wrote the ending." Not a fan of devaluing the devs who, until the end, had not failed us (to an arguable extent--YMMV).

We were not promised an artfull ending we were promised a series where our choices would matter and that was destroyed in 5 min! Btw the series was art, it was a proof that the consept of movies could go into the video game genre, it was proof that players could be given much control over how it would turn out and it was proof that there are many people who was ready to really dive into a game and enjoy every detail instead of going after some high score at the end. That art was destroyed with an ending that did not deliver what was promised!

Goddamnit, If I hear "ending" and "artful" together in one sentence ONCE MORE I swear I'm gonna kill someone. There was NOTHING artistic about the ending of ME3!

Makes "artful" claim? Check.
Makes condescending remark regarding happy endings? Check.
Makes personal judgements about people who disliked the ending? Check.

Great job, OP. You're indistinguishable from 90% of the other people who liked the ending.

Great video. I hadn't seen that one before.

The debacle about the lazy photoshop job on Talis face is maybe a minor issue compared to the catastrophic ending.
But the fact that they put more time, money and effort in to rendering Jessica Chobot's jumpsuit then providing the fans with a better face to one of the more beloved charactes in the series is just sad. Really it is. It may be a minor thing in the grand scale of things. But it is another nail in the coffin.

OK, i have prepared a list of reply you will be getting, OP:

A) you are a not true fan
B) you are too stupid to understand there are tons of "PLOTHOLES"
C) you are being paid by Bioware/EA
D) you love playing immature brainless FPS/action game

So you put those down in place of reading the reason that people have put down.
