Tried to romance Ash by FemShep, by transfering edited savegame from ME2 (thank you, Gibbed's Save Editor). Worked for 1/3 part of a game (though, it was rather funny - few replys in MaleShep voice or without any voiceover at all) but after meeting at the memorial simply turned into "we-are-comrades-in-arms" phase without any special dialogs.
So wait Kaiden can go Gay but Ash can't?

Ashley never came across as a real xenophobe to me, more of a cynic. She just doesn't buy into this whole idea of all the races getting along as one big happy family.

This is a common myth people use to try and spin that all romances are meant to be bi. But it isn't true.
Here is what really happens. Bioware records the Shepard dialog for both Shepards. Yes, all of it. Meer reads off the femshep dialog, Hale reads off the dudeshep dialog. It is later locked out of the game. But because of this, you get dudeshep telling Harkin he is a woman, and Shepard flirting with characters of the S/S.

actually you can gay romance Kaidan, at first I thought he was straight and just being a bud like Garrus then he ask you to meet him for dinner and starts to come on to you..so unexpected I lol'd.
ON TOPIC: I think Kaidan is Bi because he was more requested for men than Ash was for women so yeah, and I like the system. 1 Gay= Cortez, 1 Lesbian= Traynor and 1 Bi= Kaidan. Better than DA2 in my opinion.
