I'm not saying his views are wrong, but how he's going about expressing them is. Shouting and ranting at people is not the way to get them to see what you're saying. Talking calmly and rationally is. I know that I for one, tend to shut out people who rant at me.
Fair enough, but I do agree with him about the ending backlash. It's gotten kind of out of hand, and that's why I'm not a part of it. But as long as I'm not told I'm a loser by not participating, people can do what they want.
I'm with you in thinking that it's got out of hand. I only came into this thread because I thought it was the former BBC Radio 1 DJ whose stage name was DJ Spoony.
I'm still here because... I'm not sure really but whatever the reason is, it's also the reason I'm still listening to him at 1hr 29mins.
Ah, alright.
But yeah, it's gotten to the point where I just don't care for the ending backlash anymore. I think it's absolutely dumb that everytime BioWare makes a Facebook post about fan art or something all we see is stuff about endings... there's a line to be drawn at the end of it all.

I'd never call you a loser for not participating.
I just think that he harms his message by the way he presents it, calling everyone who dislikes the ending "stupid" in his opening salvo. It turns it into a preach-to-the-choir sort of thing.
If there's a point to be made, when he does that he limits it to the people who already agree with him. Insult people, and they stop listening. So basically he spoke for 90 minutes to people who already agree with him.
Not to mention that being insulting in the fashion which he did displays a very narrow-minded perspective that is not likely to produce thoughtful and balanced perspectives on things.
If what he says were true, and "only stupid people disagree with this viewpoint"...he shouldn't just say that. Just saying "You're stupid" is utterly meaningless and makes the whole thing look like belabored trolling. He should instead simply lay out his points as to why he believes the ending is awesome, and leave it to people to decide what that means about the ending, and about people who agree or disagree with it.

How exactly is him pretending to be a crying fan a "Well thought out point of view" ?? This is the same guy who had to stop videos because he had to deal with depression. I'll comment for him to get over it next time he brings that crap up.
Are you comparing depression, a serious human matter to a video game ending?
Cause.. that's kinda wrong.
No. But some players have had to get medical help for depression like symptoms after this game. Including myself. Hearing him mocking the players like that was just a load of bull****.

Ok. If you're joking (which I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say I get it) then you've just discredited everything you've said up until now. Also. The correct answer would be yes. Not no, because you actually are, in that sentence, comparing depression to a video game ending. You've just said the exact opposite of what you just said.
If you actually do, by some slim chance, mean for that to be taken seriously... then I don't think any of us can help you.

God. I remember that.
He does good shows, but he can get a bit demanding.
Normally I like the guy, he has some valid points, but in this I think he needs to tone down the finger wagging. In the first 10 minutes he's derided and made fun of fans with valid points and complaints and denigrated our intelligence in terms of us 'getting' the ending.
Not cool.

I'll try again to explain. I figured since he suffers from depression he'd sympathize a little with the fans. Clearly I was mistaken. It seemed very hypocritical of him since fans spoiled him with "get well!" comments and yet doesn't seem to care about other people who just so happen to be upset and also getting medical help with depression. There were a few forum posts after ME3 came out of people admitting they were going to doctors for help. My comment was made in anger because I was a long time fan of Spoony. And yet seeing him act this way was just disgusting. I enjoy the Indoc Theory too but he expressed his opinion like a true jackass. Mocking, yelling, "I'm right you're wrong" is not how opinions tend to be discussed. It just seemed cold to hear him mocking the Tali fans who wanted to build a house for her. This game can be brutal for some people who enjoyed the series for five or so years. People obviously get attatched. No I didn't mean to compare actual depression to a video game. Only saying it was just a dick move to mock people who are genuinely upset and possibly heart broken. I apologize if I offended with the depression comparison. That comment was again made in anger and disgust.

Ha! Well, he is smart and funny(not in this video though) guy, and is interesting to listen to, even if you don't agree with him. People here must understand that it wasn't even a rewiew(like Angry Joe's), or some kind of message to people from "Retake" movement. Basically it was just Spoony having a friendly banter with his fans.Transgirlgamer wrote...

Thanks
chibilombax.
I'm one of those players that has suffered under clinical depression for my entire adult life, and was one of those that had to seek help after that ending.
I don't really blame EA/Bioware or even the writing of the ending. It's just fact.
Some things act as triggers for my depression, and this was definitely it. Seeing an entire universe that I was 100% emotionally invested in be completely ruined in 5 minutes completely shook me to the core.
It's a serious matter, not to be taken lightly. Again, I don't cast blame at Bioware.
However, before this I was a big fan of Spoony.... stumbled on his video rants by accident and (even if he is VERY longwinded) enjoyed his style and humor.
But to make fun of us and call us idiots for not getting it?
And being a hyprocrite when he himself suffered from depression, which previously I sympathized with?
Low.

On Spoony's meical condition:
I don't know much about his medical history, but it's still irrelevant. Hypocritical isn't the right word for this. It's definition doesn't line up with the context. What you're looking for is ungrateful.
On people commenting about going to the doctor because of ME3.
They're lying to you. Don't believe everything you see on the internet. Believe it when you see an actual doctor diagnosing a game's ending for PTSD. Otherwise they're giving you the run around. Gullability: 1. You: 0.
His approach.
I'm a fan of his to an extent. I like some of his stuff, but other stuff. Meh. But he's always willingly admitted he's an outspoken jerk about things. In the video in this thread he even calls himself out on it saying it's "a character". It's an internet personality. Not something for people to take seriously. Just gotta have the skin to deal with people because you're always going to find someone that says something that doesn't line up with your perspective. If you can't dust it off life is only going to get worse for you. And I meant that "you" as a general statement. Not you in specific.
On the investment into ME3.
By all means I line up with a lot of the accusations he made. You know what? They are legitimate. He has valid points and sometimes I was at the end of the shooting range. I can't argue because... yeah... he's right. What am I going to do? Cry? If I did that everytime someone proved me wrong I'd drown the world.
On the depression.
