Equal to your opponents when it came to rolls and resistances and whatever. Which one is it in DA2?
Why has no one updated the Difficulty page on the wiki? It's kinda frustrating...

I have a vague memory of post-launch talks about Normal being the difficulty to play, but i'm not sure. Can anyone confirm?

Well just going by experience Hard would be the setting to choose if you have the latest patch. The patch makes it less challenging than unpatched. I turn it down on the hard parts. You will find you can win most encounters on Hard. Maybe not the Ogre but most encounters.

The Ogre is the same regardless of Hard/Nightmare. He does not gain any immunities just more armor and health, which requires 1-2 more rotations of movement.  Movement is always key when fighting anything larger than a humanoid.

Anything lower than Nightmare has always been a face roll because those difficulties lack friendly fire.  So, to answer your question, the difficulty you are looking for is Hard.

Although if you are concerned about it to such a degree I would suggest normal.
