I must be heartless, but other parts in the series DID make me cry.

Would you kindly

Sorry ... Bioshock 1 had a bittersweet emotional ending?

BIOSHOCK 1? The BioShock 1 which had what's generally regarded as one of the crappiest endings of all time?

At least that would fit with the overall game, which was pretty f*cking bad and a real disappointment.

Arguable.

Bioshock I had such misplaced ending for such a great game. It wasn't really "Bad" The same way Mass Effect 3's ending is (Assuming Indoc. Doesn't pan out) but it was still lackluster.

Red Dead Redemption probably has the best Game Ending of all time, but Shadow of the Colossus was pretty good too.

I don't think you can really capture the endings of Deus Ex: Human Revolution in one screenshot, but they were certainly bittersweet. Out of tragedy came the potential for change, and I thought it was actually clever in how it put you into the position of making the final choice. I really liked how it melded themes of technology, corruption, truth and human nature into one choice, which I actually found interesting to think about.

I agree 100% on this. Assassins Creed Revelations got a ton of hate, but it's one of the best games I've ever played.

Honestly, that barn scene - Posted Image

Then becoming his son and killing that officer, so epic.

I was like NO!!! I wanted so bad to run back into the barn and pick them off behind cover.
It was a great ending but I wanted to go down fighting not like that :crying:

While they did give you a type of ending cutscene with epilogue data, the truth is that it plays out too close to how ME3 plays out and it did lack a lot of creativity.

Yeah it did seem to cut corners in its ending when compared to previous games, but I liked how it lead to the fate of the world being in the control of media and its representation of truth, rather than space magic.

That is a prime example of a good bittersweet ending.

I dont have any screens to post, but the majority of Heavy Rain's endings were very bittersweet. Bioware, that game is the PERFECT example of how to make choices matter in the ending and through out the game. Easily the best game and story I have ever experienced

maybe it's just been a long time since I beat Bioshock 1, but I don't think the ending was bad. I saved all the little sisters and the good ending was very uplifting. It was pretty vague, but it fit into the theme of making your own identity quite well when you consider the big picture.

However..... DAT BOSS BATTLE. That part really sucked.

Bungie's Halo games (with the exception of Halo 2, which had a much-hated non-ending) all do bittersweet pretty well. You won, but it came at a price, and the way the protagonists handle it with a stoic sense of duty is inspiring even in the dark that surrounds them.

I have a feeling that 343's Halo games are going to be crap, though I could be wrong as Halo Wars (which 343 presided over) also did the bittersweet thing pretty solidly, if predictably.

Metal Gear Solid 3's ending is actually one of the few game endings that made me tear up.

Shadow of the Colossus was a fantastic game but I thought the ending was bollocks.

Only game that ever made me cry openly. MGS 3 came close though.

Final Fantasy 10. It was sad, not a surprise and made sense.  It was so bittersweet the sequel was pretty much one of the characters really hoping she could find or bring back Titus. And she never did.

Someone never got a high enough completion %

Though the sad ending has it's own charm unlike ME3.

All the endings in one place.

Oh yes, Final Fantasy X. Another of the few games that made me tear up.

To date, it's still Squaresoft's best Final Fantasy story imo. Looks like it's gonna stay that way for a while.

Erhm, I'm gonna have to think on this one, as most of my faves already seem to have been posted: Bioshock 2 (Eleanor :3), Prince of Persia (Elika <3), Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Dragon Age: Origins, Halo Reach...
