Ending to Medal of Honor. Rabbit dies and you sit there as Rabbit in first person for a few minutes while they are calling for med-evac. The next cut, the are bombing the caves in the mountain and Rabbit is in a body bag.
I was in tears.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant. A horrifyingly bittersweet conclusion to a magnificent game. And yes, yes I did cry for poor, robbed Karin.

I dont have any screens to post, but the majority of Heavy Rain's endings were very bittersweet. Bioware, that game is the PERFECT example of how to make choices matter in the ending and through out the game. Easily the best game and story I have ever experienced
Yeah, pretty much that whole game is a prime example of how to do "sad, but good".

Sorry man but Killzone was a piece of trash in its entirety, filled with plotholes and retcons all around and kept throwing out pieces of **** every other game. Had the most imbalanced difficulty, terrible level design, and even the cinematics don't make sense in a LOT of ways.

It had an epilogue DLC that fixed things.

Not that I agree with anything you said. But it is a bittersweet ending and very good one which is why it's in this thread.

I don't see how that's bittersweet... Earth is saved, the fleet that was there is devastated, the Helghast survive... seems more like the typical continue thing.
You don't have to agree, it's a fact that there are retcons and plotholes and it's a fact that in terms of game-design there are terrible balances for difficulty and level design, and that the cinematics don't line up well. Now it's my opinion in regards to whether I like it or not even with all that just as it's yours to like it or not with those facts, but don't dispute the actual facts.
Resistance was also terrible.

I think every piece of Vegas was utter crap outside of the regular campaign though that had Obsidian obligatory mid-point dullness throughout it of course.
My opinion in this case.

Also this. Dead Money's "perfect" ending is a work of beauty, even with being incredibly bittersweet.
What do both these games have in common? Chris Avellone as a main writer.
