I think first of all it brings the whole game-play experience full
circle, whereas the first games were [role-playing games] and had
cinematic stuff and some comba
t, but it was more of an RPG than a great
third-person shooter. So I think the earlier games were trying to find a
good balance, and I think that’s kind of what we got with Mass Effect 3
a really good balance of third-person combat that is competitive with
the best shooters in the world,

Was he on crack when he said that. I mean people bought the first one and the second one for whats in bold StoryTelling and Role playing. I didn;t pick it up for third person shooter if I wanted to pick up a third person shooter I pick up MGS gow etc games that are far better when it comes to shooters.

and in what planet is ME competive with other thrid person shooters.

Atleast I know bioware don't want to do RPG's any more with that statment it clear they want to do 3rd person shooters with an after thought for stroy telling  because it has a bigger market.

MGS games aren't third person shooters. Sorry.

Sometimes I wonder if any of you have been gaming longer than 3 years.

He likes to shift the blame from the company to the players.

He is blaming the people who buy the product. Basic mistake of all products that go awry.

I think that's an overly strong response. His answers are exceptionally bland and inoffensive, just like the questions he was asked. An interviewee will almost always take the easy way out unless the interviewer goes after something.

This. Once again, he didn't really say anything.

I don't side with the "it's our characters & our decision so we 'own' the story" thing. On the other hand if you believe BW's pre-launch statements about the game did not mesh with the game & endings that we got THEN I believe there are grounds to be upset.

Sorry OP, he seems quite restrained on that. Not gunning for anyone at all.

Only thing that did bother me was

Q: The game is unquestionably bleak. Why is that?
A: Over the course of the series, so much of what Commander Shepard is doing is making choices where some sort of sacrifice is involved. There isn’t an easy path forward. There’s no way to get out of it unscathed. That’s what makes Commander Shepard’s choices interesting. So, by the time we get to the third game, I think we have a character that, we wanted to reflect the fact that a lot of those choices have been made so far.

Which didn't get refelcted in my opinion.

I didn't see anything like the thread title in that interview. Seems like a standard, if slightly bland, interview.

Athletes, celebrities and a guy who puts himself out there as the face of the franchise need to be able to hande the jeers as well as the cheers. Oh, but they do love to bask in the koodos, but come a little backlash and it's all "you're hurting my feelings" and "I'd appreciate constructive criticism".

I do not condone personal insults, threats or violence, but if you can't handle being told that you released a garbage, nonsensical ending and we're calling you on it, you're not the man to be standing up as the face of the franchise. Sorry.

"I think it’s easy for people sometimes to lose sight of the fact that we do this because we love the medium, we love storytelling and we love to create a magical experience for players."

I'm okay with this, but does the medium have to be riddled with plot holes in order to create this magical experience?

Granted if you played the stealth way  or you  could go all guns blasing it was still thrid person. Still I could create a list they are:

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs
Uncharted
GTA
Saint rows
Army of Two

just they name a few. There is tons out there that are better thrid person shooters than  ME3 the fact that he said is competive is just silly that they sacrficed RPG elements ( granted I can see why bigger market) for third person. they me it  kinda  says to we loved that the oringal fans loved the game but we need more.

Heck red dead redmptiopn was a Open world third person shooter.

I could list more but they did better Multiplayter and shooting games than ME3 I don't see how he can call it competive to todays shooters.

And the fact that I mention MGS not not MGS4 should actually imply that I have atleast been playing games since 1988 but  even if you took MGS as number 4 it would atleast be 4 years  well 3 years 9 months not just three years.

So if your going to try and insult someone do some homework first

OP, the interview is very civil and implies nothing of the sort. Stop looking for reasons to bash BioWare and Hudson.

4 is, to an extent. But you can still play it as a stealth game.

Guys check out this interview with Mr. Hudson:
http://www.theglobea...article2379957/

He implies more or less directly that the Re3take Movement are more or less entitled little brats to him who think they own Mass Effect. Once again evidence that Bioware has learned nothing.

I read this interview twice before I saw this post, and I didn't remotely get that from his interview.

Stop reading so much into what he's saying. The entitlement argument isn't there. Stop trying to inflame and anger, you're not helping anyone,

Also, this article has been posted at least four times,

Which will see more business at PAX:

The nearby restaurants

or

the guy selling tomatoes and eggs outside the door of Bioware's presentation?

Q: Who is this game for? You seem to be targeting a broad audience.A: It is an M-rated game, so it’s meant for grownups........

I luv this. It's ment for grownups. Because 90% of this forum doesn't act like children.

Greatest interview ever. I 100% support this interview.

He doesn't really say that no. Though I had to laugh at:

That sure was some magical nihilism at the end.

Uh, I don't see where he said that he thinks people feel entitled in any way.

But nonetheless, he was being arrogant, dismissive, and acting like he doesn't wanna listen.

Man just lay off the guy. He's not exactly having the best month of his life right now. If you think about it, from his perspective capping of ME3 should been a triumphant moment for him and his team. instead they got a ton of unsatisfied customers and complaints, (mostly valid). Look at it this way, the guy did helm a great game, atleast 95% of it.
