I never intended to buy Mass Effect 4. The only time I bother with extended franchises is when they're only a setting at their core. Forgotten Realms is a setting. The game that introduced it didn't have you crossing one end of Faerun to the other to save the entire thing. It focused on a singular region. That's how Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights can all work. They try to be distinct franchises in the same setting, instead of one franchise just trying to salvage the setting after previous works.

Mass Effect is this trilogy. Expanding it beyond that is going to end up like Star Wars EU and comic book superheroes. Way too many cooks, new storylines trying to up old storylines, new themes contradicting old themes, and plot holes. Each new work introduced will just compound the problems of the series until the entire things collapses under its own weight and it becomes hard to look at any part of it with respect. Then someone new will take over, try to reboot it to the period when he enjoyed it, the fans who preferred a different period will be enraged, the older fans will be split between enjoying the nostalgia and hating how badly it mangles the elements they enjoyed of the original version. I have no interest in being around for that.

I don't think there will be a "mass effect 4".

I'm pretty sure there will be some sort of spin off, or something like that.

Rumor and highly likely they will do a ME4 with a new hero. Now whether that means an entire new squad, etc. is still open. I just know it will be a bargain bin purchase or a used copy from Gamestop. Heck, I first bought ME2 on 360 used but liked it so took it back and they let me pay the difference for a new copy (turned out better than buying Cerebus Network separately at the time).

YES, I will buy ME4, BioWare makes amazing games, and I didn't let the ending spoil my fun. The journey from ME1 to ME3 was still great fun.

If Walters and Hudson aren't involved, I'll give it a chance. But few months later, with tons of reviews and a price drop....

If the gameplay and story are the same calibur as Mass Effect 3, then I will buy Mass Effect 4 for sure.  I would love to see more stories in that universe.

If you can play as an asari commando...then i will rain muffins down upon them with loving affections, and whatever sin they have ever commited shall be forgiven.

If not!..then i will probably still buy it, but they can forget about the muffins!

..they would have been blue..:crying:

I love the universe but will read user reviews first (and not payed "professional" at-launch reviews). It's not about the money - it's about expecting greatness from a company that used to make the best games in the business.
