Really lookin forward to what happens next in the Mass Effect Universe. Really excitin considerin the endin and tons of possibilities. That bein said, I wouldn't what a new game set in the Mass Effect Universe any time soon. I feel the end Shepard and the Normandy Crew is a good place to leave off for the moment.

In complete honesty I can't say.

two three years from now is long time to hold a grudge. I'll tell you this though. I'm not buying preorder OR new. If it makes GOTY maybe I'll buy that. maybe... If I'm not busy straightening my stereo wires or something.

In the end all you can do is vote with your wallet.

Buying ME4 was never a question in my mind until this ending fiasco. But it isn't because I now "hate" bioware.

Everyone who says they now HATE Bioware are idiots. You have no freaking respect at all for the people who gave you 2.9999999999 amazing sci-fi RPG games. A company that keeps developing for PC's when there are many who have given up on it. And company who LISTENS to our feedback and takes that into account when they make games.

I do NOT understand the animosity towards Bioware as a whole. Want to rant about whoever specifically penned the ending? Fine. But the entire company can't be dragged into this when they gave us so many other awesome games. ME1 and ME2 were amazing games, and ME3, aside from the last 15-20 minutes, was a GREAT game that was better than the previous 2 games. Seriously, everyone saying that they hate Bioware needs to take a freaking chill pill and stop pretending like you didn't love everything else about ME 1 - 3 except for 3's ending. No "brown-nosing" here, just facts. I get being upset over the ending of 3, I am too, but don't channel that into hate for a company that has been nothing but great to games and gamers alike.

That being said, Buying ME4 depends on a LOT of things, for me:
  • If you chose the "best" ending in ME3 (or we get one that gives us a true Paragon ending, the Disney ending as some jerks are calling it), does my Shepard or anything else import into it?
  • If ME4 is a "prequel" game, in which case I'll avoid it like the plague (prequel would be tragic imo)
  • How the extra ending/plot hole cleanup goes with ME3
  • What the storyline and purpose of ME4 and subsequent games would be (I thought ME was over after ME3...)
  • If the world will still be dynamically effected by you choices in the previous games (if it isn't,. seems kinda pointless imo)
  • If they finally make a high-res version for PC (was disappointed to see same low-res textures on my PC version @ 1080p as were used on the PS3)

No. If they don't do right by the ending of this title, I'm done with the series.

[*]It's not such much hate, as a loss of love... my emotion is more one of apathy and lack of trust.  I reserve my hate for IGN and the next person who tells me I'm upset because I'm too dumb/unread to 'get'  it, or that I want puppies and rainbows.

The way things currently stand, I'll be waiting to see what the fan reaction before I buy any Bioware/EA game in the future. No way will I be going down the preorder route again anytime soon.

I don't know how they'd manage to make a ME4 after the ending cluster****.
But if they do, it'll probably Shepard-less, in which case it won't be of my appealing.

^ So much this. I know pre-orders have gotten crazier since stores try to compete, especially with used game sales. I used to get pre-orders, though feel like I was cheating if the bonuses were anything other than cosmetic. We've all had pre-order guns that dwarfed even the things found in the end-game. But honestly now, I might buy something on day 1 if peer reviews are good, but ahead of time...just can't do it. Not just for Bioware, but any company.

certainly wouldnt buy it strait off still waiting to play the story

why buy a game new for more when ur not going to play it

speaking as some one that rarely pre orders games me3 has been a disaster to me and if the game ends up dissapointing me as much as some of the other people here me4 will be bargain bin hands down

Depends on the development team. If Casey Hudson is still in charge, yes I will. I absolutely love the whole concept of the kind of and how he likes to make games.

Mass Effect fan since 2006

Depends:

-If they fix the ending for free and make good on the promises they made before, I'll probably buy DLC and other games in the Mass Effect Universe

-If they make us pay for the new content regarding the end, then I will reluctantly buy that DLC if it gets a good review, but nothing else from Bioware ever again.

Only if they do something about ME3, enough is enough.

Even so I'd so there is now opportunity for another development house to step up and fill their shoes, they've been going in the wrong direction for years.

You mean if they decide it's even lucrative to make a fourth one. Isn't the current plan to make an MMO in the ME universe? I'm sure BW can be successful in the MMO realm, it's not like their last big endeavor in that area bombed...

If you take the Star Wars from TOR you have a boring and medicore MMO at best. The only thing it might has going for it is some of the stories and there its highly dependant on which class you've been playing.

So i would exactly say they were successful with that MMO. Its mostly the StarWars thats carrying that game. Just like it was the StarWars that was carrying  StarWars Galaxys after a certain famous patch.

No. And if I change my mind and decide to, it will be used from gamestop when it drops down to ~$25 or less; either way, BioWare won't be getting my money for it.

If Mac Walters is the writer, they might as well snap one of the discs themselves to save me the trouble.

Also this.

Yeah well, i can agree with that. Especially since i'd rather have someone writing stuff they didn't copy from one of the worst Sequel disappointments of all times.

Seriously, i am still wondering when they thought it would be a good idea to give us a Neon meets the Architect Situation and thought it would actually do better than those movies. And just for the record, i know like 1 person that even acknowledged those movies existance.

Which makes this whole "this is art" subject rather funny... because it suggests painting by numbers is art as well. But i digress.

From my understanding TOR has left many player underwhelmed and all around displeased with the final product. The whole argument of "artistic integrity" in the writing would have some weight if it weren't for the fact that the writing is majorly fractured and their attempt and a multi-veined story was too much for them to deliver.

Originally I planned to end with ME3, and if ME4 looked promising, I would have bought it.
However, in lieu of current events, I just want them to fix the ME3 endings. After that, I'm done no matter what.

Unless Mass Effect 4 retcons the sh*t out of ME3 endings, then hell no.
