Thoughts after a re-visit...

So far:-
replayed Origins, liked it apart from some bugs that are still there!
Darkspawn Chronicales, so-so. I have never liked playing the bad guys but I do like to know all stories.
Leliana's Song: not bad.
Awakenings: liked it very much, also other than a couple bugs.
Golems of Amgarrak: terrible. Sodding about hitting switches to basically just reuse bits of the same level with a different tint is bad value. Too short. Frustrating.
Witch Hunt: is up next, so I hope this final (to me) installment of the 'Original' DA will be as fun as Awakenings or as heavy as Origins!

I found it rather annoying that the events of that DLC contradicted what Leliana told us in the game (Orlesian guards arresting her and such).
Eh. If my choices are "interesting DLC with story bent to support re-use of existing board" versus "no DLC because we can't spend the money to develop several Orlesian boards," I'm willing to overlook the bent story. And I thought the first act did a splendid job of conveying what the Grand Game was like via gameplay, which impressed me.

True, but that's not how I felt when it first came out. I was rather disappointed and I believe that was also the general opinion at the time so I'm not alone in that. Anyway, time heals all bitterness- and it *has* been a while since I played that particular DLC. Maybe I should revisit it to see if perspective has made it better for me.

Golems is still the worst of the DLC. Good back story about the casteless. Worked well for my Dwarf character. But that was the only good part.
Witch Hunt: 2nd worst. Too short, especially considering reused areas. Not enough of the titular character and end conversation not meaty enough. Also, I want to know what the 'present' was, or at least a description without having to buy another game to find out.
Good point regarding inconsistencies for LS, but it's still better than GoA or WH.

Thought I'd do a bit of an update.

lol I'm seeing your point after reading what others have to say. Being someone who almost always romances Morrigan (I don't fully play through with other Wardens) I get all caught up in the hunt and the hype surrounding the story and fail to notice its shortcomings. I think, around that time, BioWare was just trying to rush things to a finish so they could concentrate on DA2 and such. That would explain for the weak story and lackadaisical treatment of the plots.
The present that Morrigan spoke of could probably be the book Ariane was searching for. At least that's what I thought.
GoA was trying too hard but I had more fun playing it than LS- by then I had stopped paying too much attention to the story. It was like- move to new area, kill everything, activate stuff, read stuff, collect stuff. Repeat. lol
