My main questions is this:  "Is beign a Blood Mage worth losing Wynne as a travelling companion?"

Which holds the higher value, Blood Magic, or Wynne herself.  I acquired blood magic from the Desire Demon , but before I could point a spec point into it, I learned that you cannot acquire Wynne as a party member if you are a Blood Mage.  From what I can tell, Wynne is much more powerful the the 4 spells you can acquire as a Blood Mage.  I can't see myself in a situation where I am willing to sacrifice the health of all my part members to perform one spell.  The only benefit i can see is the stat bonuses assosciated with Blood Mage.  Is there more to being a Blood Mage than that?   Thanks for any input.

You learned wrong. Wynne can still join you.

There is no requirement to take a spec at a particular time. You can spend your spec. point any time after you get it (during a level up from gaining a level or from using a tome). Also, I made wynne a blood mage herself and she didn't seem to mind that!  Oh, and blood wound and blood control are amazing CC spells.  BM is a great spec. by it self or with arcane warrior.

Specs do not affect companions joining or leaving in any way. Unlocking a spec might, but the spec itself has nothing to do with anything.

Yeah, I had Wynne in my party and I still became a blood mage. Heck, I think you can turn Wynne into a blood mage if you want to.

Hmm. I'm glad to hear I was wrong. I read in another thread that if you are a BM, she will not join you. It went on to say that if you became a BM, she would leave the party.

I think there is some point where you might get outted as a blood mage. It might have to do with the climax of the circle quest, but I've never played that line. I've read that you get a chance to admit you're a blood mage at some point and that will upset wynne. When I took the +1 CON from the blood mage in the alineage, I got Wynne -40, lol :)
