Does position matter in this game for attack probability. For example I have my tank taking the bront of the damage and I position another figher behind the emeny. will the fighter attacking from behind or on the side have an advantage.

As far as I know, flanking/backstabs only provide extra damage, not an increased hit chance. I could be wrong, though.

The flanking angle contributes to both attack rating and damage. It's pretty significant - especially for rogues

Yes. So getting surrounded is bad.
Sword-n-boarders can invest in Shield Tactics which makes it so they cannot be flanked.
